I hope we will get enemies that can be a huge threat on their own due to their ferocity as well, I do love how you're trying to design enemies that are hard to fight against because they have good AI but man I do sometimes love enemies that serve as some sort of juggernaut, something akin to the hunters in prototype...but maybe a lot weaker..and slower(if you played prototype you know what I'm talking about, although they are not a threat to the protagonist).Eh I realize I give too many suggestions about enemies, though that's kinda what you wanted this game to be about.I can imagine you have good ideas about weapons and environments yourself though this early in development you really try to focus on how the gameplay will be first before delving into the campaign witch is good.
Of course, there will be some tougher boss type enemies :) They lead squads/packs of regular enemies and have better guns, more health and different tactics. They're still being prototyped but man they are tough haha
I can imagine
Just curious, where does the name 'Trepang2" come from?
Pretty sure it's the name of a battleship or something.
EDIT:Found it:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Trepang_(SSN-674)
The submarine was named after a sea slug, but the game probably references the submarine..maybe.
That's a very good answer, but not quite :)
Long story, but here it is: A long time ago, a couple friends and I made a small game about a sea cucumber (https://frosttree.ca/trepang/). We couldn't decide what to name it, so we googled something like "exotic words for sea cucumber". one of the results was "Trepang", meaning sea cucumber in Indonesian, and that's where it came from.
I found myself in a similar situation when I was rushing to submit this game for the superhot competition without a name - so the first thought that came to mind was naturally Trepang2.
It's totally a placeholder name, the real name is coming next update. I'll be sure to inform everyone so there's not too much confusion.
Here's a preview picture to reward your investigation :) Indiedb.com
Huh,thanks it's weird to get rewarded for knowing how to use google :/ .I mean I always do a lot of "investigations" about the things I'm interested in.
Interesting story btw,I did not expect the name to come from a game.Also.."press z to shoot your vital organs",is that something sea slugs do? ._.
I think my favorite moment from this game was when 2 soldiers decided to cover each other face to face,I don't know if it was intended or not but they were literary looking at each other while walking slowly towards my direction, granted I killed them pretty quick and it wasn't a really good idea for the situation since there was only a single way I could come towards them but that was some pretty impressive behavior, It would have been a lot better if they walked back to back lol.Again I'm not exactly sure if it was intended or I was imagining things.I need some confirmation for this.
Haha that's a bug that's still being worked on. They try to guess your location when you're out of sight (or invisible), but occasionally their guess gives silly results, making them stare at nonsensical locations until you shoot them lol
Well they were staring at each other and they were still moving not to mention it happened when one of them said "cover me",but yeah I suppose that's still a pretty silly result.
