Hello! I'm proud to announce a new western shoot 'em up arcade came that attempts to carry on the legacy of some of my favorite retro games. Although there is still polishing to be done, development has been going quite well and I should be able to release the game on steam in the next few months.
What is Smoking Gun?
Smoking Gun is a vertical scroller, western themed, shoot 'em up arcade game that is an unaffiliated spiritual successor to a 1990's classic. Being one of my favorite games when I was young, I felt inclined to recreate this experience using modern technology and mechanics. The game challenges a player's reflexes and hand eye coordination; requiring quick movements to avoid flying bullets and careful aim to bring justice to the deserving bandits.
Built with Unreal Engine 5, Smoking Gun has stunning visuals with good performance to further sell the old western landscapes with ease. Additionally, satisfying audio effects along with a strong western soundtrack to help immerse the player into the old west and give satisfaction to and through.
Backstory
Following the mysterious disappearances of members from the notorious Red Rock Raiders gang, the outlaws are hell-bent on vengeance with their sights set on taking Hickstown hostage. As cries for help echo through the Red Rock Valley, the renowned Arizona Ranger, armed with his trusty big iron, rides in to untangle the dire situation confronting the Sheriff and his deputies. Little does he realize the depth and darkness of the abyss that awaits...
Key Gameplay Features
- Find and collect gold, ammunition, and power-ups to aid your fight for justice!
- Unlock new weapons and upgrade your guns to your heart's desire!
- Be challenged like in retro games of old. Progression saves are limited and the bandits are unforgiving!
- Fight unique bosses and enemies!
