How to Switch Game Versions
Certain games that are sold for both the PS4 and PS5 with different graphical upgrades can actually look different when played on your PS5. This includes games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Bugsnax, among others.
Sometimes, when upgrading your physical or digital edition of the game from the PS4 to the PS5 version, you will have the option to play or download either version - which may result in lower graphical power. You may even be able to conserve hard drive space by a small amount if you wish to play the previous gen version.
When looking at your game library or the main menu, you can see games for the PS5 will simply list the game name, while PS4 versions of the game will list the Game Name | PS4. If you find that you have the wrong version selected, press the option button when selecting a game and scroll down to “Game Version”, and be sure to select PS5 | Game Name so that you are playing the correct version.
If the game is not cross-generational, it will only have either the PS5 or PS4 version, and you will not have to choose between one or the other.
