it was amazing

Woah! This book was excellent!

Sure, it is loaded down with science and math. And, at times, the science and math can slow down the narrative a bit. But there is no need to understand the math and science to enjoy this unconventional sci-fi story. And, in a world flooded with sci-fi literature for the past 75 years or so, it is kind of amazing to find a fresh new take. (Note: I am sure that someone who is more well read in sci-fi is going to read this review and give some examples where this is not actually as creative as my experience was. But, at least for me, it was fresh, new territory!)

If you have enjoyed Weir’s other books, I have no doubt that you will enjoy this adventure. It is another case of someone “Science-ing the s#%t” out of many tight spaces. A perfect blend of humor, suspense, and heart; I laughed, I cried, I screamed out loud! This was a great way to help start of my reading in 2022.

Wondrously Bookish Cristina This is one helluva review! Couldn't agree with you more! For me as well, a truly original funny sci-fi story.

Wulf Krueger This one was so damn good! And the way we were learning about Grace... I loved "The Martian" but this one was at least as good.

Thank you, Cristina! I am so glad you enjoyed it, too, and had a similar experience.

Stephen Yep, I loved it too ... and (whisper it because it's sacrilege) the audiobook is even better!

Kandice I thought Rocky was going to turn out to be female and we might get an odd...romance? Whatever you would call that!

Agree - loved The Martian, but this one might be better. And, despite the similar "survival in space" trope, it did not feel like a rehash.

Kasia I just finished, uff, I’m not okay haha! What an emotional journey!

It was a great audiobook - not ashamed to say it out loud! :)
