It’s pretty full on from the start and doesn’t let up until the frantic and explosive finish. It’s the first time I’ve listened to a story via an episodic podcast, and this in itself was a very different experience for me. I was sometimes frustrated that I had to wait another week for the next episode and occasionally irritated that my enjoyment was interrupted by sponsor adverts but, in truth, neither was a party spoiler. The production quality is amazing – the best I’ve experienced – and the voice actors were spot on too, particularly Thora Birch in the lead role(s). If you enjoy action packed science fiction then I’d urge you to give this one a go....more

Ok, it was eleven years ago that I first read it, but you'd think something would stick in my mind. Perhaps it's the fact that listening to this dramatised version of the story - sound effects, full cast etc - was more akin to watching a televised version without the visual element. It's actually really well done. Definitely with catching. ------------------------------- 19/5/24 Re-visiting this one (I forgot I'd already read it) as a podcast series on Audible. Great cast and with all the trimmings. Even has Titus Welliver (Bosch in the Amazon tv series) playing a leading part.
------------------------------- 23/1/13 I read this short story in bed last night. I'm not one for ghost stories and since the title clearly signalled it's intent I'd put this one off for a while. But once I started I was quickly gripped by the tale of a locksmith being called out to open a long unopened safe. All I'll say is that I found the whole think pretty spooky. I even had trouble sleeping! One for ghost story fans and mystery fans and anybody who reads Connelly....more
