Best Zombie Books
Zombies are freakin' scary and the only thing I like more than movies about them are books about them.

To clear things up, the creatures from 'I Am Legend' are neither zombies nor vampires, which are both under the UNDEAD category. The creatures from this book, however, were not undead but actually living beings afflicted with a mutated vaccine that made them look and act like that.
Richard Matheson always said they were vampires but it is debatable. What isn't though is The Passage. Definitely vampires.

And no one gives flying fuck if they're zombies or not. The sub-genre was already too thin to keep spreading it out by differentiating zombie or not zombie by diving into zombie biology. Do you have a degree in zombie biology? Fucking no. Basic definition of zombie is voodooed being, no voodoo = no zombie. Stop with the stupid definition. Zombie is no longer a defining word, it is now a subgenre and should be treated as such. Pointless defining is pointless.
Saying someone fail at reading comprehension because they don't agree with you is not a valid counter argument. My dog shits better argument than you speak.

Some of the comments above are quite entertaining. Author says his creations are vampires. Readers come back decades later and say they are Zombies. Today we call ourselves humans. Maybe 100 years from now, our descendants will call us 'fish' since scientists say we came from the primordial ooze. Monday morning quarterbacking at best that completely misses the point. Vampires (at least when they aren't twinkling and sparkling) are not Zombies and should not be included on this list. Well, at least that's what I think.

I think you're very amusing, so I think you've done your purpose here. For a reader you have absolutely terrible reading comprehension. Read my post again, I never attempted to argue about the creatures in these horror movies, because if I can call the monsters in I am legend zombies, I can call these shambling brainless corpses from dawn of the dead zombies, which would be absolutely wrong, because like I stated no voodoo = no zombie.
What I said was that zombie is a definition of a sub-genre. Take 28 days later for example, if someone call it a "zombie movie", which it clearly is, the zombie cock-maggots will get all rustled up and cry "wahhh, its not zombie, wahhh!!!"
My point is who the fuck cares, if we go by definition, then there are only two true zombie movies, and they both suck.

For the record, I understood your message quite well. In fact, I agree with a good deal of it. As for who cares whether or not books centered around vampires should be included on a list for books featuring Zombies, I'll have to venture the opinion that it's mainly a rhetorical debate, but it indeed is quite amusing watching the back and forth. Now that I've said my piece, I'll go back to the sidelines and allow this list about Zombie books to be perused by the more intellectually inclined readers, of which, as you say, and as I am more than happy to admit, I am not.

Man I never said you're not intelligent. I'm just saying arguing semantics is pointless. It's great that you understood what I tried to convey because that's exactly the message I'm trying to send.

I've read Max Brooks's World War Z, JL Bourne's Day by Day Armageddon & Beyond Exile. I really enjoyed these 3. I think it has more to do with the variety of coverage the books give to the zombie outbreaks, the military aspect, the coolness of the main characters, and the overall eerieness without being too over-the-top. Can anyone suggest more zombie books that are similar in nature to these?
I've also read Jonathan Maberry's Rot & Ruin and Patient Zero, Tony Faville's Kings of the Dead, and Mira Grant's Newsflesh: Feed. These were all pretty good, but in my opinion, not as good as the first 3.

I have just added my book Zombie Apocalypse: Combat and Survival to this list. Download a FREE copy from www.endoftimesurvival.com until 4/16/13!

Cryonic: A Zombie Novel has had its ranking inflated by fake accounts (100+ of them - completely blank profiles with no friends, no other read books) all ranking the book #1.
By far the best zombie series I've read is zombie fallout by Mark Tufo , the suspense in these books is very good and I love the humor and underlying humor is fantastic . Definitely give them a try !!

The Autumn series is very good. The author goes to great lengths to convey what the inflicted are (zombies), but the word is never used. Multiple story lines converge the father into the series you go.

"Autumn(series)" by David Moody, left me amazed and yearning for more of the genre. Mark tufo with his "Zombie Fallout(series)", really got me in an equally disturbing way. "Autumn" is a serious take on the undead and "Zombie Fallout" is fantastically infused with hilarious inner monologs.
Why is 50 Shades of Grey on this list? Because it's a paper-lobotomy that turns readers into zombies? o_O

"50 Shades of Grey" removed now. Clearly miscategorised.

"50 Shades Darker" and "50 Shades Freed" or whatever book 2 & 3 are called are still on here. :/ CRAZY. "Divergent" as well.
Zombie Fallout 2: A Plague Upon Your Family is on this list twice. Seems kind of pointless right? I mean both copies are on the first page.
I am thinking Tufo has had his books' ranking inflated by fake accounts. I have read the first and part of the second. They can't hold a candle against some of the others on here.
No Fuchs? No Ringo? No Blackmore? Is this a random list? Mark Tufo's books are fun, but I'm not sure they should be within the top 100 of this genre. DJ Molles is #25?! Heh... ok, this is just a random list of books found by googling 'zombie'.

This list is a product of many people opinions, it's not yours personal view so your ranting is really strange. Mark Tufo should be definetely among TOP 100. Furthemore if you looked and paid any attention, the amount of votes here are quite low, meaning it provides negligible results at best. Its sad to say but Goodreads search system is just bad, it's up to random people to supplement it by creating these lists.
