I love books with this shtick and I love Meghan March. Lachlan Mount is my favorite type of anti-hero and I really enjoyed this one.

I do think this (and the entire series, actually) is a little overpriced though ($4.99 each at the time of this review).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Ruthless King, book 1 of 3. To pay her debts Keira is pulled into a depraved game of secrets & seduction!

“You’ve already been marked. Lachlan Mount owns your ass, regardless of whether he’s tapped it yet. No one else will touch you because they’ll want to keep their limbs intact.”

Books in Mount trilogy should be read in order:
Book 1: Ruthless King
Book 2: Defiant Queen
Book 3: Sinful Empire

Ruthless King (book 1) opens up to widow Keira Kilgore, Ke-ke learning that her deceased husband took out a loan, using her distillery as collateral, with New Orleans most powerful and dangerous businessman.

The mysterious Lachlan Mount, Mount has come to collect his debt. He is ruthless in his demands and secretive in his motives. Keira is quickly pulled into a sinister game of blackmail, secrets, deception, seduction and toe-curling sex.

Seven words to describe Lachlan Mount, Mount: Sinister, demanding, private, elusive, possessive, depraved and ruthless.

Seven words to describe Keira Kilgore, Ke-ke: Loyal, naïve, caring, reflective, determined, strong and spirited.

Ruthless King told dual POVs is a fast-paced dark tale with a mixture of mystery, suspense, violence and erotica as Keira journey to pay her debt and uncover the truth. Story ends shockingly leading right book 2, Defiant Queen for the continuation of their story.

When was the last time you were fucked by a real man? Someone who knows what you need. Someone who’ll take control from you and give you what you’ve been dying for.

Um, may we just have a moment of silence for my ovaries? Because they fought the good fight, but those suckers completely combusted in the mere presence of Lachlan Mount. I'm talking total ovary obliteration here, people, and mine were steel plated for goodness sake!
HOLY. FREAKING. SHIT.
I LOVED this! This brought back all the originals feels that I had with the beginning of the Beneath series but EVEN BETTER.

Meghan's Beneath series was easily my favorite of hers. It was a bittersweet moment reading the last book in that series. But then she went and introduced an anti-hero to beat all anti-heroes set in the same world and I. Was. Hooked.

Mount is the king of the New Orleans underground. Equally feared and respected, nothing happens without his knowledge or order. When Mount wants something, he gets it, and no one stands in his way.

Keira is still reeling from the unexpected death of her cheating husband and barely keeping her head afloat running her beloved family whiskey business. When the boogeyman shows up at her door and tells her that she owes him a five hundred thousand dollar debt, she's shocked. When he tells her that he'll take her in exchange for the money her husband apparently loaned from Mount, she's livid. But a debt is a debt, and you don't say no to the most feared man in NOLA. And the fact that the fan enrages her as much as he brings out all her primal urges? Definitely inconvenient.
I own your orgasms. I decide when you come. Not you. Learn it. Live it. Because you’re going to fucking love it by the time I’m done with you.”

I devoured this book. Absolutely devoured it. Hanging on every word and erotic interlude. Mount has such an enigmatic and utterly sexual presence to him, that you don't just read about him, you feel it. March knows how to write one delicious alpha, but she seriously outdid herself with this one. He's cold, ruthless, dominant, and the sexiest anti-hero I've read.

I loved that Keira is the only one that has the balls to stand up to him. This is no cowering wallflower. This is a woman that gives as good as she gets. And let me tell you, she gets it HARD. Uhem. She's smart, head strong, and not afraid to tell the domineering man where to stuff it. OK, seriously, I need to stop handing myself sexual innuendos here. I'm dying. But seriously though, I am HOOKED. Line and sinker. I'm desperately salivating for the next book in this series. If you're a fan of sizzling romance with an anti-hero that's to die for and a story that's as captivating as the romance, this is a trilogy you need in your life!
She may have marked me tonight, but I marked her first. Keira Kilgore needs another lesson in what it means to be owned by Lachlan Mount.

I've never been this excited to introduce a brand new story to you!!

Lachlan Mount didn't just pop into my head. No...he took over my life. He's an alpha like I've never written or read before, and October 17 cannot come fast enough!

In my opinion, this is the best story I've ever written. I have no idea how I'll ever top it. I stayed up countless nights, writing in the dark, and there were no rules.

Mount is law unto himself, and I can't wait for you to experience him. If you loved Creighton and Lucas Titan...Mount will have you flipping your $h*!. He's utterly incomparable.

So, I recently re-read the Dirty series and it made me think about trying another book by Meghan March and this was the first the Internet algorithm sent my way.

And I have to say that I'm rather disappointed.

There was a lot of similarities between the two series, to the point that I'm wondering if the author has a certain "template" a certain setting which she uses.

However, what I missed the most about this one was the easy readability the Dirty series possesses. I found it hard to connect with the main characters. Especially, Keira, she was seriously bordering on the unlikeable line. (Side note: I hated the nickname Ke-ke and I cringed every time I saw it.)
And maybe a bit ironical but I felt like Mount lacked a certain presence about himself on the page. Which is funny since he was supposedly portraited as a huge alpha male.
But still, I found him more tolerable than Keira. He's definitely an interesting character and I would be interested in knowing more about his past. However, if that comes at the price of Keira being there as well I think that I will rather pass on that.
Plus, the terms of their relationship really make me uncomfortable.

The cliffhanger/twisted at the end was rather unexpected even though it is a bit of cliché.

While there might be some things which I would like to know more about... I do not find this series worth continuing.
So, anybody knows good spoiler-filled reviews for book two and three?

Ruthless King....is EXACTLY that. You should hate him. Loathe him. But good god almighty, I FUCKING LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!! It’s 3:30am and I am seriously so full of adrenaline that I might not sleep tonight. THIS BOOK!! It’s the dirtiest of the dirty. The sexiest of the sexy. Hottest of the hot. And so god damn wrong that it’s pure PERFECTION. I can’t even form comprehensive thoughts right now. I am not saying anything about this book. Just that Lachlan Mount and Keira Kilgore are FIRE. Lava, dynamite, NUCLEAR!! You are going to crave these two. And probably need church afterwards for the sinful thoughts you will have. YOU WILL HAVE THEM! And you will love every single one of them. Don’t even get me going on that ending!!! Meghan March truly went for the shock factor with this one!

YOU NEED THIS BOOK LIKE YOU NEED YOUR NEXT BREATH!!! BUY IT NOW!

What I love about Meghan is watching her writing grow. Each book I read of hers, I always think this is her best yet. And then she writes something like this. It’s darker, more sinful, a little different than her others. Sometimes authors try different. They step out of their norm and it either works or it doesn’t. It definitely works for Meghan March. This is her best book to date. And I’m saying this now, this is my #1 pick of 2017. One of the best books that I’ve ever read. Not just this year....but EVER!! I also need book 2 now. Just putting that out there. This is why I love books with cliffys. I love the feeling of wanting more. Like the season finale of your favorite TV show. That feeling it leaves you with and knowing you will be getting more. Sometimes the best things are the things you have to wait for. Makes it that much better!!

Thank you Meghan for your fascinating mind, your thoughts, your words that I crave, and most importantly...your talent. I love you!!!

Again, BUY THIS BOOK!!!

****WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW****

This is one of those books that's got rave reviews, everyone talking about how exciting and amazing this was and then... there's me.

Bored as fuck.

Completely unimpressed with the lack of originality, the flat characters, the weak storyline, the cringe-worthy dirty talk from the hero, the god awful inner monologues from our heroine who felt the need to incessantly repeat how much of a “BASTARD” the hero is and how much she hates him but oh my godddddd why are my panties wet?

How many times can she repeat how the distillery is in debt? How she refuses to let it fail? How much she hated her husband? How much she won’t let the hero fuck with her head?
I can answer that. TOO MANY TIMES.

Speaking of the hero: what a sad excuse for an anti-hero. Not once did we actually SEE the big bad man he’s made out to be. All we get is chatter from the other characters about rumors they’ve heard and things he’s supposedly done. Am I supposed to connect with or believe this guy is some cut throat killer when we get, like what, 4 lines out of him? And most of them are empty threats? Stop telling me what a badass he is AND SHOW ME.

Even if this changes in books 2 and 3, I wasn’t impressed with the writing enough to even want to continue.

“When was the last time you were fucked by a real man? Someone who knows what you need. Someone who’ll take control from you and give you what you’ve been dying for.”

*

“Property of no man?
Bullshit.
Keira Kilgore is mine.”

The ‘Husband comes back from the dead’ twist?

And from what I've been told, this twist is barely mentioned in the next book and really serves no purpose. So it's basically added as shock value and to lure readers to book 2?

“I’m going to fuck you like you’ve been begging a man to fuck you your entire life…”

All around - WEAK.

"But tell me the truth about one thing. When was the last time you were fucked by a real man? Someone who knows what you need. Someone who’ll take control from you and give you what you’ve been dying for."

What a thrill ride! ❤️

I absolutely loved it! There wasn't a moment that I didn't enjoy in this book. I have been anxious to read it and once again Meghan March delivered. She did an absolute amazing job with this story. Brilliantly written and so intense I just couldn’t put it down. This book had my heart racing quite a few times and trying to read faster to see what was going to happen next. I just had to know! it was, sexy, edgy, intense, raw, scorching hot and packed with goodness. There were several twists I didn’t see coming at all. And I have to say that I fell hard for the Ruthless King of New Orleans, Lachlan Mount! He’s a dangerous, powerhouse of a man, pure alpha male. The ultimate bad guy you cannot help but love. This man runs his life and his empire with an iron fist. New Orleans belongs to him. He's here to collect a debt. And Keira Kilgore’s the only one left to pay. She’s now the property of Lachlan Mount. Little does he know that Keira will push him to the edge like no woman ever has…

"She was fucking magnificent. No, not past tense. Is. Even as she walked away wearing nothing but my coat, she held her head high and proud. Most men won’t look me in the eye, but this woman isn’t afraid to declare all-out war."

I adored Keira too. She’s one tough woman, strong and feisty and never annoying. And the chemistry between these two is a mind shattering blazing inferno. I really enjoyed the way the author built up not just the sexual tension, but the emotional attraction as well. This book gave me huge feels.

“I legitimately think I could kill him with my bare hands. But I also want him more than I’ve ever wanted any man in my life. It’s visceral. Primal. Uncontrollable.“

That ending was absolutely killer as this is part of a series and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I was completely addicted to the Beneath series and I’m becoming so with this trilogy too. A definite page-turner that will keep you engaged from the first chapter. Highly recommended.

I feel his touch like it’s bathed in fire, a scorching trail in its wake.

I’ve read plenty of Meghan March’s books and this has got to be ”Hands Down” the dirtiest and steamiest story she has written! I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a winner with me since we get just the tiniest glimpse of the hero, Lachlan Mount, during the prologue and then he doesn’t return until about the 30% mark in the story. I didn’t think that the heroine’s storyline was enough to keep the book entertaining but then BAM, MOUNT comes charging through the story at full force, demanding attention, and then there wasn’t any doubt that this was going to be one ”OFF THE CHARTS” AMAZING story. If you like a really good enemies-to-lovers romance, well then you need to get your hands on this one. The chemistry between Mount and Keira is INSANELY HOT!!

Keira Kilgore is the owner of Seven Sinners Distillery, New Orlean’s most famous Irish whiskey producers. The family business, which had been successful for the past four generations is now in jeopardy of being bought out by one of New Orleans’ most notorious and feared businessmen, Lachlan Mount. People are known to show up dead once they’ve attempted to cross him. Keira finds out that her late husband owed a huge sum of money to Mount and had the balls to put her family's business up as collateral. But Mount has an indecent proposal for Keira that will ensure she keeps ownership of seven sinners—she must be his “plaything” for however long she holds his interest. This enrages her and messes with her pride beyond reason. She’s the typical fiery redhead with a bad temper and she will not make it easy for Mount to tame her, but what she doesn’t know is that she is no match for the sinfully sexy Alpha. She turns him on like no other woman has before and Keira will soon learn that Mount will own her body like it was made for him.

The sex is wildly erotic between them and underneath all the heated hostility, there is a hint of a buildup to a deeper connection for Mount and Keira. I loved everything about the dangerous and elusive Lachlan. His need to be dominant in all things is definitely a trait that I most desire in a book boyfriend.

Be prepared for some huge and unexpected twists when you reach the end of this first installment of ”The Mount Trilogy”! I am on pins and needles to see what Meghan March has in store for us next in ”Defiant Queen”!

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 3.5
Plot: 4
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

RUTHLESS KING: is a dark read by Meghan March and is the first book within the Mount Trilogy. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Keira Kilgore and Lachlan Mount. This is also a new author to me *hangs head in shame - crawls back under rock*

As soon as you start this life gets put on hold you get so absorbed in the storyline that seconds, minutes, hours just disappear. All your energy is focused on the story, and nothing else..

Mount is someone you never want to meet, he’s your worst nightmare, only whispered about in the shadows and never ever mentioned like saying candyman in the mirror may have the same effect, utter his name and he may appear in front of you..Lachlan Mount is someone you don't want to f#ck with. The last person who did ended up on a cold slab in the morgue.

Nothing happens in this city without his say so. He's like a conduit through which all things must pass. Booze. Drugs. Girls. Cons. Gambling. How the man amassed so much power, I have no idea, but he did and he holds it with an iron fist.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He's the King of New Orleans underworld and he’s got Keira in his sights, unbeknownst to her she’s in debt over her head due to her husband and it’s to him. Half a million dollars to be precise.

Now he’s come to cash in.

Keira is the co owner of Seven Sinners Distillery and it's this which her late husband used as collateral. If she doesn't come up with the money within the time frame requested of her, her family, co -workers, friends will all be eliminated.

But maybe just maybe there's another way to pay that debt off??

F#ckity f#ck f#ck this was soooooo freaking good!! I think I've found a new author to stalk, because the way this ended I need the next book now!! Gah waiting and patience kind of skipped me when I was made lol I have no patience whatsoever in life and it's worse when it comes to books that I want, need, crave for the next in the series to arrive!! And yep this book and the way it ended on that motherf#cker of a cliffy is no exception!! Definitely a one click recommendation, highly recommend!!

"I shuffle toward the steel doors like a little girl who's about to pee her pants, and punch the call button with my finger."

With what else would you punch the button? Your toes?! Trust me, when you say you pushed a button, no one's gonna imagine you doing it with your nose!

This might look like a small detail that would have no effect on one's enjoyment of a book, but it's little things like this, that when repeated, can get you out of a book and make you wanna throw your kindle at a wall with you arm.

This book was a mess, and I don't know why I kept expecting it to get better. My love for smut is common knowledge, but why should that subject me to horrendous literary works with bad writing, awful characters, and zero plot? For the love of God people, do it right!

Once more, as it seems, all the things I hate were brought together in this beautiful collection of papers for my enjoyment:

Writing:
As evidenced by the quote above, it sucked! Too much telling and no showing. I don't need to know every single move of your hand while opening a goddamn box! It makes it impossible to follow the story. Don't you read books?

Constant whining:
The whining never stopped! Okay, so you're forced into a situation you hate. Sure you complain a little, maybe even mop around for a few days, but after a while you pick yourself up and find a way out of your messed up situation, because you're a big girl and you can handle it.
But no. Keira must whine, because Keira no happy. Keira can't happy, because if Keira happy then no book, and if no book, Meghan no money.
It got to the point that I started reading every single paragraph in her whiny voice. Even when she was enjoying her existence for once, she sounded whiny to me:
"Ooooooh nooooooo, his hand dragged up my thigh and flicked my clit. Noooo I'm coming, God why must this always happen to meeeeeee, I want moreeeee!" *crycrycry*
Too much. Stop it.

Useless damsel in distress disguised as a lion:
Stop advertising your heroines as resourceful, sassy, and strong women who can bring everyone to their knees, and then proceed to write about a whiny donkey who can't control her own fucking life!
This heroine is supposed to be a CEO, however you won't guess it in a millions years judging by the way she acts! How can you run a company if you let one man walk all over you like that?
And don't even get me started on those ridiculously inappropriate business meetings. Game of Thrones is more realistic than this shit!

The sex toys:
I've had enough of sex toys to last me a lifetime. All through the book something was being jammed inside the MC and she was being forced to go through her daily routine with it. It got too ridiculous after a while!

Plot:
There's none. Unless you count the whining and the sex toys.

Asshole hero who's supposed to be all soft and mushy under that steel exterior:
Enough with this shit! If he's abusing you he's a goddamn piece of shit that needs to be put behind bars, and no amount of "good heart, good intentions" would ever change that!
Off with his head!
And "I would never force her" my ass, Mount. You basically locked her in a room to order her around. You should go fuck yourself.

Kiera's huge fucking ass:
Yes we get it, she's hot and she doesn't know it. We're all familiar with Mary Sues, and we don't need to be reminded of your MC's Mary Sue-ness by every character in your "book".
Her ass is big people! It's bigger than my fucking bank account. There, I saved you from reading 40% of this shit.
Is it too much to ask for an MC who's aware of her own hotness, so we can stop being subjected to so much angst?

The constant use of the words "whore" and "slut":
Every woman was either a whore or a slut! She was "whoring herself to Mount" or was "being a whore".
Hopefully I don't have to explain why I have a problem with this!

Overall:
This whole book was a joke. I was either bored to death or rolling my eyes at the writing and the stupid MC. Absolutely nothing happened in this book, except for the MC whining 24/7 and having stuff shoved up her ass!

Plus, I saw that "twist" that was supposed to sell me the book coming from a mile away, and it did not satisfy me in the slightest.
Needless to say, I don't recommend this book.

Phew, this was therapeutic, and will keep me sane through the second book that I'm forced to read, because I fucking have it.
Oh well, I've read worse.

Bonus point: Abs on the cover!

Good job!

Lawd have mercy! Ruthless King is hot AF! Like off the charts, he owns my soul kind of hot!!

Meghan March promised something different and she delivered in a major way. While the overall setup and character attributes are slightly different from her norm, the amazing writing and intriguing plot remains the same. Ruthless King is an FANTASTIC read AND Lachlan Mount is Meghan's sexiest heroes....EVER! I love a strong, dark, dangerous, and mysterious male lead and she gives us all that plus more--MOUNT OWNED ME!

I'll skip my usual breakdown because I don't want to give anything away. You need to experience this book on your own! So I'll jump straight to what I LOVED. But first, my inspiration for Lachlan and Keira...

Okay, here's what I loved:
Lachlan Mount! He's the baddest mother-fucker in town. Nothing happens in the city of New Orleans without his say. like I said before, I'm a sucker for the strong, take no bullshit alpha male and that describes Mount perfectly. And my god, the sex appeal on this guy. He's a dirty talking sex god! Yum!

The setup is so PERFECT in this book, because the author really takes her time to build up the idea of a character who is so mysterious and so bad-ass, the reader can't help but be enamored by him when we finally get a glimpse in this book. It was executed perfectly!! Seriously great plotting and delivery!

I also really loved our heroine, Keira. She's not planning to take her lot in life lying down. She is a #girlboss who is all about managing whatever is thrown at her and making it work to her advantage. I love her spirit. While I'm not a huge fan of the decision that lands her on Mount's radar, I get it. She made a bad choice and now she's dealing with the consequences.

The intricacies of the plot and the plot twists are FANTASTIC! I never once considered that cliffhanger. It's beyond brilliant! The entire last 15% of the book was so unbelievably good! I'm sitting here balling my eyes out wondering when I get my next fix of Lachlan and Keira. Well done, Miss March. Well done, indeed!

Meghan March can write dark and erotic romance like nobody else!

This book has a premise that has been done before, though there are story differences. However, Meghan March just seems to do it better than everyone else. This is steamier, the story has a nicer flow, stronger female characters, all combined to make things so much more exiting and fun to read.

The main premise in this story is that Kiera Kilgore is trying to save her struggling family whiskey distillery after mistakenly marrying a con man who recently died and left her in debt. But just when she is starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, she gets a visit from Lachlan Mount.

Mount is the “King of New Orleans”, make that the underworld of New Orleans. He has Cartels, Mafia, Gangs, Cops, Feds, DEA, and all kinds of officials that jump to his bidding when it comes to doing business in the city. Mount tells Kiera that her late husband took out a loan with him for half a million dollars and it comes due in one week. He will take her in payment if she can’t come up with the money, and he knows she can’t.

We, as readers, have seen this trope before where the billionaire gets the girl who is desperate for money or he says she owes him for something and will take her body as payment. He owns her, in effect, for a certain amount of time. In this case, the rumors about Mount are that if you don’t do what he wants, he will kill all your friends and family. Each day of the week before the loan comes due, he sends her pictures of her friends and family along with a note saying how many days are left.

Kiera doesn’t have the money so she has no options, but she fights Lachlan all the way and every chance she gets. She has red hair and a temper to match. Kiera hates the fact that she is attracted to Mount and that he knows exactly how to turn her body against her. This book is super steamy and off the charts hot. With a heat index of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 out of 5 flames. The story is good and the struggles between the two main characters are great. The ending is surprising and a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to start the next book!

Lachlan Mount is the King of New Orleans; he gets what he wants, when he wants it, and people don't dare to question him. He's the epitome of an anti-hero with all his intense sexiness. We only got to get in his head a few times with his POV but I loved those moments and getting to see how intense he was. I should probably hate him for being such a pushy bastard with Keira but it made me fall for him hard.

Once he decided Keira Kilgore was what he wanted he went right after her in a way that he knew she couldn't turn him down - no matter how much she wants to. Keira was determined to not make owning her an easy thing for Mount, though, and I loved that backbone she showed. She goes up against the King of the city like no one ever has before, completely turning him inside out.

Keira and Mount had a relationship filled with a lot of animosity and passion. That constant fighting each other really showed the chemistry and sexual tension that was between them and I just couldn't get enough of it. I loved getting to see them together and now I'm just left waiting and pulling my hair out until I can get my hands on the next part.

Review now posted 24/10/17

I should have waited. I do this to myself every time. I know the author, I know it's going to be a good book since I haven't one or two starred any of her books, I know it's going to be a cliffhanger and I just can't resist! That cover, that glimpse of Lachlan in the Beneath series just spurred me on and now I'm stuck waiting. Not a long wait but still that cliffhanger left me hanging.

Lachlan Mount owns New Orleans. Nothing happens without his say so. He's a virtual ghost controlling the city. He has his fingers in all the pies you can imagine. What he wants he gets. And now he's set his eyes on Keira Kilgore.

description

Keira is still trying to unravel the mess her lying, cheating, asshole soon-to-be-ex, dead husband got her in, when she finds out that he borrowed half a million from Lachlan Mount and he's come to collect. He wants to be paid but he's willing to take her instead of the money. Keira is up to her ears in debt and has no way to find enough money in the space of a week. Add that to the fact that Lachlan threatens her family, friends and employees if she doesn't comply and she finds herself backed into a corner. But we are not talking about a simpering female here. If Keira has to capitulate she'll do it on her own terms and will fight Lachlan every single step of the way.

Incredibly hot sex ensues with immense amounts of sexual tension that blazes in their every interaction. Keira is conflicted and confused when she enjoys the things he makes her do but hates his guts at the same time. Some reviewers said that we would find the situation disgusting if Lachlan was fat and ugly and Keira wasn't attracted to him. And they are probably right but this is fiction. In Romance Land everything goes because it's on paper (or erm virtual paper). Personally, I loved the whole book. In fact it's worth about a ton of ovaries-exploding gifs. A ton!

description
description

You get the drift. Lachan is the epitome of Alpha asshole you love to hate and Keira is a feisty heroine with a steel spine. I have no complains to make. I practically inhaled the words off the pages and I cannot wait for the next books. I'll try to wait until both books are out before I dive in again. Who am I kidding?! I'll end up torturing my self waiting for the third one after I read the second one the day it's released.

Oh thank God that ended like that! Sorry had to get that out first. I'm still in shock actually, but one thing is for sure. I can’t wait for the next book!

The male lead, Mount, is the King of New Orleans. He oozes money, confidence, power and sexuality. He is used to getting what he wants. He is ruthless, unapologetic, totally dominating. Keira is the CEO of a dying family whiskey distillery. She is determined to revive the failing company but when she finds out of her late deceased husband’s enormous financial debt to Mount, he makes her an offer: she must become his private plaything in order to keep the business. Furious, she realizes she must go along with the arrangement, but as she moves in with Mount, Keira discovers dark desires she never thought existed.

Keira and Mount sizzle as a couple! The chemistry is off the charts and the development of their relationship is so well done it's a joy to read! My biggest complaint is that 90% of the story is too predictable, except that huge plot twist near the end that changes everything!

Overall, the author was able to mix the right amount of romance and action to get a beautiful story. That being said I really hope you enjoy this book and love it as much as I did.

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 5/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 5/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 3/5 | Darkness 2/5 | Humor 2/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 4/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pacing Fast | Action 3/5

“I own your orgasms. I decide when you come. Not you. Learn it. Live it. Because you’re going to fucking love it by the time I’m done with you.”

Is it hot in here?! JAYZUS this book had me sweating and fanning myself to the point where I just said screw it and cranked up the AC.. It was 58 degrees outside and I was still hot!! That’s what happens when you read a Meghan March book and if you think you won’t be on fire before you’ve made it through the halfway mark, you’re sadly mistaken.

Keira Kilgore is up to her eyeballs in debt. Trying her best to keep the family’s business afloat and not let it sink on her watch, to say the girl has gone above and beyond is an understatement. But things take an unfortunate turn and Keira finds herself in the cross hairs of the very infamous and deadly Lachlan Mount.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“Most men won’t look me in the eye,, but this woman isn’t afraid to declare all-out war.”

There’s this unspoken rule in the city of New Orleans when it comes to the name Lachlan Mount. Do not say his name unless you prefer to be in a vegetative state. Known as the most ruthless, fearless king in the underground world of New Orleans, Lachlan has no trouble in getting what he wants and what he wants, is Keira. But when she refuses to bow down, Lachlan realizes that getting her to bend, will be the most satisfying, self fulfilling thing that he’s ever done. All is fair in love and love and war right?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This was one hot, fast paced read and I loved it! I did have one issue but as I look back and think about it, I think it was purposely done that way because this is only the first book in a three part series. Keira was a strong heroine that fought for everything when it came to her family’s business and it’s legacy and I loved that about her. Now as for the man of the hour, I think it’s safe to say that we need flashing neon lights with the word “WARNING EXTREMELY FUCKABLE AND DANGEROUS” when it comes to that man. I won’t go into any further details about him but based on my warning sign alone, do I really need too?

With a twist and cliffhanger that will have you checking your temper at the door, “Ruthless King” is guaranteed to leave you craving more until you can get your hands on part two. Who will be left standing in “Defiant Queen”?

2.5 Stars.

I'm not going to lie, I thought I was going to like this book I mean who doesn't like an alpha man?

Well I know he's supposed to be this ruthless man but I didn't expect him to treat the heroine this way. I wanted him soft with her. Eh I don't know what I expected but I know this was not IT.

All I could think about was, was he like this with the other mistresses that he had before the heroine? There was mention of his other mistresses, I didn't find the heroine to be special for him.

So I'll call it like I saw it, he viewed her as his toy, a pet.. Someone who could submit to anything that he wanted to do. I guess if he wanted to shared her with other men he would have done it and there was nothing that she could have done to stop it. Was he possessive? Yes but that didn't change how I saw him.

I had the misconception that he wanted her as his equal or for his wife/woman, sure I know this is going to change in the upcoming books but I didn't expect this.

“Keira Kilgore was an easy mark. Full of righteous indignation and a fire I’ll enjoy having beneath me.
It amuses me that she thought she could make demands. Grown men with brass balls the size of boulders wouldn’t dare. That’s why she’s a fascination. An oddity.
That’s all she is.
Entertainment. A piece of property to amuse me for a short time”

“I’ll tame that fire. Bend her to my will”

“How can I want this man? I hate him.
But I’ve never craved anyone more”

And she folded like the cheap toy that she was.

Will I read the next book? Who knows because I didn't liked her but I really hated him.

No OW. I won't reveal the big "cliffhanger." But it was so Predictable. I saw it a mile away.

When oh when will I learn my lesson about not falling for the hot covers????

This book is labeled psych-thriller-bdsm because I can't be bothered to create a new label, which would be - random smut with some dom-sub type of theme with no real storyline other than - her dead ex-husband owed a mafia sort of guy money and the guy demands that wifey pays with her body. The end.

You get a "twist" with the fact that the H (I won't type out Hero since that remains to be seen) was also the

I mean...waste of $$.

No real emotional connection to speak of. Can't really find anything to like about the H other than maybe he's hot? No real motivation or insight into his psyche. h is being defiant but can't help but enjoy what he's doing to her body...

What the hell is this book????

I'm done with this genre for a while. Please someone bring back a book with deep characters, a real plot and some emotional connection PLEASE!

Ugh. Only giving this 2 stars bc of sex scenes. It filled my smut quota for the day. Now I feel like I just swallowed a particularly greasy, 2 day-old McD burger whole and my body is rejecting the intake.

Lachlan Mount...
"Lachlan Mount is not someone you fuck with... Nothing happens in this city without his say-so. He's like a conduit through which all things must pass. Booze. Drugs. Girls. Cons. Gambling. How the man amassed so much power, I have no idea, but he did and he holds it with an iron fist... Now you are in his grip. "

This is the first book that I read by Meghan March and I really wonder why I waited for so long because obviously Meghan write about men that I would love to read their stories.

Mount is the king of New Orleans. And Keira Kilgore will be his kryptonite. Keira is the CEO of a family distillery in New Orleans that produces the finest irish whiskey, the Seven Sinners Distillery. Her dead ex-husband owned a great amount of money to Mount, so Keira needs now to pay the debt. With herself.

Face the mirror. Bend over.

The story is told by both Keira and Mount. I loved the fact that they are both a bit older. Keira is 30. Mount is over 40. There is a shocking cliffhanger in the end of the book, but fear not because book 2 is already published.

"But tell me the truth about one thing. When was the last time you were fucked by a real man? Someone who knows what you need. Someone who’ll take control from you and give you what you’ve been dying for."

What a thrill ride!

4.5 Oh, This is Just the Beginning Stars
* * * *1/2 Spoiler Free-Surprise Sale 99 CENTS!!!
Looking for an Erotic, Controlling Alpha who happens to be the threat of all New Orleans... A Man who came from nothing and through his clawing, manipulating and understanding ruthless actions would take him to heights beyond the norm...Then this is right up your alley.

My Pervy Pal, Lana ❇✾Dirty Girl Romance❇✾, review came across my feed and I was hooked. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... I fell hard with all the amazingly perfect GIFS and passion. Yum.

This tale takes a man, Lachlan Mount, who is like the Big Bad Wolf... and places him front and center as he rules the town and all that is in it.
He is feared by all, he is untouchable with no weakness. He decides what will happen, how it will happen and if he doesn't like any response... people have disappeared....

He gets bored easily with the women he uses...has his fill and they are gone...Where, no one knows or dares ask...

Keira Kilgore comes from the lineage of Irish Whiskey...4 generations has made the finest in New Orleans and now this heritage is in her hands. She is the first woman to run the show and she never wanted to let her family down.

Unfortunately, she made a fatal error... She fell hard for a con artist... wooed by his manipulating ways of making her feel special, of making her feel like this was the love of a lifetime...

But It Wasn't...

Instead, he maneuvered an elopement, took over the finances of the distillery and ran it into the ground. She had gone to an attorney, signed papers to divorce his cheating ass and even leased a new apartment to have everything in place.

Then swine's untimely death happened...Leaving Keira confused, angry at the state her family's legacy was in, and working non stop to bring it back to the glory it was. She was making inroads... bank loans were made, business was solid as the Whisky was the finest and the light at the end of this horror tunnel could be seen... but barely...

Then Lachlan Mount happened...

He materializes out of no where...and presents Keira with a promissory note of $500,000 due in 7 days...with her dead bastard husband's signature on it. Keira at first fights, this can't be... No, I won't pay... and then the reality of this hits her smack in the face when Mount says there is another way to clear the debt... She "willingly" becomes his...

She has 7 days to give her answer...Give him the family legacy for the ridiculous price of $500,000 or become his...

To do what he wants....
For however long he wants...
With no confirmation of what her outcome will be after he is done with her...

Keira goes to her best friend to find out what she can about Mount... She is a woman who lives in his underground world...and she tells Keira in no uncertain terms...

You hold onto your strength... you do what you must to protect what is yours...you can give your body but protect your mind... for he will work that body and it will love it...

Keira takes this advice and drapes it like a cape around every action she does...

She will be strong and protect her family...
She will not let him break her...
She will hold onto her legacy...

Only this Mount is unlike anything she has ever experienced and even though she talks smack to him and mentally fights the times she is around him...Mount sees her and knows her body is answering with a different response. The more outrageous, nasty, dirty demand...the more Keira experiences confusion of what is really happening to her emotionally...She is stunned she is craving him more and more....

This is EROTIC in capital letters...and it has the built in sequence of things being one way and then twisted to another... The sex scenes don't tease at a 2 and then progress in minor steps... Oh No, these scenes start at a level higher than high... and then skyrocket.

The secondary characters are given intriguing snippets so as to lend flavor, credence to the main characters and curiosity for them. This is a trilogy, so be prepared to Not have everything tied up in a bow at the end... instead you will be tangled up with so many ribbons...only getting the next installment will work out these knots.

This new series has it all... an Alpha Controlling Man, a Woman Fighting Back, Intrigue and Enough Erotica to set your Kindle on Fire.

I have loved every book I have read by this author! This is book one in what promises to be an exciting, sexy trilogy! The ending of this story was shocking; which has me extremely eager for book two!! I’m glad I only have to wait until November!!!

The dynamic between Keira and Mount is a total love/hate relationship.. I actually don’t know if I should even call it a relationship as the only reason they are together in any capacity is because Keira’s ex- husband owed Mount a ton of money. Seeing as Keira can not come up with cold, hard cash... it’s her body that becomes the currency that Mount wants!

Keira is one of those feisty heroines that will not submit easily, and I have to say I was highly amused by her grit!!! She gives Mount way more than he bargained for and she is keeping him guessing for now!!! As the story progresses though, there are certain reveals that lets us know not everything is as it seems! I’m loving how things are revealed to us readers slowly, as if we are being teased by what is to come!!

This is most definitely a trilogy to check out!!!

Well this was a freaking exciting, fast paced read! This is the first part of a new trilogy from Meghan and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book because that ending O-M-F-ing-G was awesome!

Okay so, what is this story all about…. Keira Kilgore is struggling to keep her family whiskey distillery business in the black after buying her father out. Most of her troubles began after she married a guy who turned out to be a massive jerk. Fortunately, he is now gone. Her great grandfather started this business after emigrating from Ireland and she will do everything she can to turn things around and make her parents proud.

She is completely shocked to walk into her office and find Lachlan Mount sitting at her desk. He has come to collect on his debt. A debt she knew nothing about. A debt her departed husband has left her to deal with. In a nutshell, Lachlan Mount owns her now. Not only that but he pretty much owns New Orleans, nothing happens in the city that he doesn’t have some sort of control over.

‘He’s not a ghost. He’s worse. He’s the frigging boogeyman, whispered about in the shadows but never mentioned in polite company, almost as if saying his name will make him appear. And no one wants that.’

Here’s the thing about Keira, she has had enough of being shat on and treated like crap by the male species and Lachlan Mount is about to feel the full force of her anger and frustration. He may have the upper hand right now, leaving her in a very vulnerable position but every chance she gets she defies him and challenges him. And to her utter frustration she is so fucking turned on by him, her body betrays her every time he is near her.

‘I legitimately think I could kill him with my bare hands. But I also want him more than I’ve ever wanted any man in my life. It’s visceral. Primal. Uncontrollable.’

Mount is surprised by how defiant Keira is but he knew this sexy, fiery red headed beauty wouldn’t be his usual submissive type but he is confident she will bend to his demands. After all she owes him and he intends on making her pay with any way he sees fit. He’ll start with fucking her mind first, and then he will move on to her gorgeous body.

‘Most men won’t look me in the eye, but this woman isn’t afraid to declare all-out war.’

Keira really has no idea just how badly her ex-husband has fucked her life up and she soon learns that crossing Lachlan Mount is something that nobody has ever survived. He is intimidating, scary, controlling, demanding but he is so fucking dominating and sexy that her head is all over the place. Not to mention her willing body….

And then just when Keira thinks she has the upper hand things get even crazier….. cue the cliffhanger ending!

This was such an awesome, thrilling read and I am so excited about what is still to come!

4.5 "fuckin Lachlan Mount" stars

The storyline

Keira Kilgore found herself in a bit of a rouse, she's hit with events that threaten to shatter her composture - her ex-husband of four months has been found dead with a mistress in a burned down car, the whisley destilery Seven Sinners, she took over as a family heritage is in a money jam, and suddenly she's met with a looming dark, dangerous shadow of a man - Lachlan Mount to whom she apparently now owes half a million dollars that her late husband borrowed.

He's here to collect, either the money, that she doesn't have, or the bargain is - her.

Not wanting to lose her family legacy, she accepts this devil's deal...

very soon hatred and animosity change places with heat, desire and lust...
Everything about this situation is fucked up beyond belief. I want to fight him to my last breath, but at the same time, I want to dig my nails into his back as he pounds into me until I scream in ecstasy.

there is only a small thin line separating this unconventional arrangement from being an unfortunate termination, but she's provocative, bold and stubborn and she won't easily submit to every desire or whim Lachlan inforces...and he's never let anyone go beyond and far as he's letting her...cause in his line of business, he's King, ruthless, cruel motherfucker that eliminates his potential threats even before they cast a glimpse...and yet she's the one that drives him to the edge...

Most men won't look me in the eye, but this woman isn't afraid to declare all-out war.

The Mount everyone knows. The implacable, cold man whose orders are never questioned or denied. The man who rules with an iron fist and no velvet glove.

and yet the lines become easily blurred, hazing her mission as she enters his world of sexual intensity and forbidden desires, she's even more torn as a misplaced memory evokes now familiar feel/emotion that can change the perspective of their future interactions...
Lachlan Mount will not break me. He might fuck me. He might fuck with my head. But he will never break me.

And then...bam...another twist shakes her world of its axis...once again...

So, after some contemplation I've ventured in...

I have decided I LOVED the main male character more than I liked the female character, but her presentation left open a space for improvement in the future installments, as I hope she'll be more developed and consistent in her thoughts and actions, as I found her actions a display of contradictory variations betweeen one moment and the next, aside her emotional/physical inner struggle to gain/obtain advantage in posture against the anti-hero's ruthless advances in conquering her.

there I've said it, cleared out the peeve issue I've had thus bringing us towards the things I did very much enjoyed in.

And just to conclude, with this being my first book by Meghan March, I'm amazed with the absolute overwhelming and captivating feel that came from fantastic sexual tension between the characters, and the fact that enemies-to-lovers is one of my fave tropes I love to immerse myself in, only intensifies my point...and I can't wait for the next installment...

Is it November yet?! Damn...
