I think we can't expect some help from Ubi...
That's strange, it seems to appear all of a sudden, and without any updates from the game. The problem seems to be from Ubi servers.
But i don't understand why the game should access the internet if there's no drm! Is that for achievements or something like that?
I tried everything...installed latest DX, checked for new drivers of my GTX670 but nothing worked (though even my graphic card was too new for this game)... just turned off the router...and it works! wondering why the problem starting up the game is related to Internet.

I turned my router off and it worked, but is there a permanent way to disable the internet connection for the game? I don't wanna do this every time when i want to play this.

This fix from a topic that you previously linked worked for me. I just pasted the block at the end of my hosts file, and no more freezing.

The IP you have to block now is 203.132.26.155 127.0.0.1. The IPs from the Steam discussion don't work anymore (Windows 11, 2023).
Redirect IP 203.132.26.155[11]

Edit the file %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts using Notepad/Notepad++. This file is protected so you must run your text editor under administrator account.
Add the following line at the end: 203.132.26.155 127.0.0.1

Note:

This line will redirect all connections to Ubisoft's offline server to your own computer which will make the connections fail quickly, removing the freezing in the game. This server was used to track statistics about the game usage, so blocking the connections shouldn't cause any problem to the game.

That solve my issue.
Throwing my info to the mix:

My dad tried to install AC1 in his machine (beefy win11 notebook) through steam. The freezing problem appeared.

I installed my GOG copy in my machine (desktop win10) and in his machine. His machine still gives the same freezing bug.

I recently upgraded my pc to win11. Booted AC1 and the freezing appeared just like with my dad's notebook. Windows 11 might be causing some issues.
I also try to run this on Win11 and I can't get it to work.

Just to describe the problem:
The first freeze happens when the initial video is loaded. The screen is either black or a frozen logo, sound is repeating on this one. Like a broken record. Sound will run normal on all other freezes though.
It freezes again for me when the video shows Altair having killed the guys doing the hanging.

Within the menu there are freezes where the menu is just unresponsive for like 2-5 seconds.
Within the game it feels like it freezes when it has to load a new animation, a new voiceline, anything new. Then the video will either pause everything or just the video but play the audio correctly. Say someone says a couple of lines.
It will play the first line animation and sound fine. Upon loading the second it will pause the video but play the sound fine. Since the video was paused it will play the animation now, you only hear background music and once the animation that belonged to the already played sound finished it will then play the third lines sound and animation.
When walking around somewhere I think it just freezes because it has to load something in.

Hardware shouldn't be an issue. I have an 8core Processor, 32Gb Ram, SSD, 6Gb gpu.

The IP fix did not change anything for me.
It does not matter if I run the game with the dx9 or dx10 executable. Windowed or not does not matter and graphics options do not change anything.
