V Rising has 3 basic options for starting the game.

By selecting the "Online game" option, you will be able to join one of the public servers and play together or against other vampires - V Rising: Game modes and servers - game mode list and information about servers - Basics - V Rising Guide

By selecting the "Online game" option, you will be able to join one of the public servers and play together or against other vampires. The basic division of servers depending on the game mode is:

  1. PvE - servers focused on cooperation with other players. This game mode requires players to cooperate against AI enemies and allows you to create clans of up to 4 people.
  2. PvP - servers focused on fighting between players, where it will be possible to fight and lay sieges to other players' bases. Clans with a maximum of up to 4 people.
  3. Duo PvP - a model similar to the previous one, but limited to two-player teams.

The servers support up to 60 players, and the search engine implemented in the game will allow you to find one that is right for you.

When deciding to play on one of the public servers, you must be prepared for the fact that many aspects of the game, such as the difficulty level, may be imposed by the server administrators.

Creating your own server

If none of the publicly available servers meet your expectations, you can set up your own - V Rising: Game modes and servers - game mode list and information about servers - Basics - V Rising Guide

If none of the publicly available servers meet your expectations, you can set up your own. This option is available after selecting "Host a dedicated server" from the game modes. You can choose one of two options:

  1. Hosting and configuring your own server running on your hardware. This option is possible by using the tools provided by the developers on GitHub. However, preparing the server may require some additional knowledge.
  2. Renting a ready-made server from one of Stunlock Studios' partners. Although paid, this option may be much easier for an inexperienced user.

In the case of a dedicated server, you have to determine how important elements and mechanics of the game will work, such as:

  1. game mode;
  2. castle damage;
  3. weapon damage;
  4. other players taking over the castle;
  5. picking up dropped items after death;
  6. permission for global chat;
  7. whether you lose all your equipment after dying.

Is there a single-player mode?

The last game mode is aimed at players who prefer single-player gameplay or cooperate with friends - V Rising: Game modes and servers - game mode list and information about servers - Basics - V Rising Guide

The last game mode is aimed at players who prefer single-player gameplay or cooperate with friends. Selecting the "Private Game" option will allow you to create your own world and define its basic parameters. The world generated in this way can then be explored alone or you can invite someone from your Steam friends list to join it ("Invite to play" option in the Steam overlay). The world instance will remain active until the game host remains in it.
