The Sims 4 Bug Turns All Sims Into Pricks

A recent update to The Sims 4 introduced a bug that makes all Sims malicious, regardless of assigned traits and established relationships. EA is working on a patch.

Players have been enjoying The Sims 4 completely free for two weeks now, although the word "free" seems to be an exaggeration - while the base game is available free of charge, the price of all DLCs exceeds $1000. Now, fans have another reason to criticize Electronic Arts. The October update made all Sims (regardless of their assigned characteristics) malicious and insulting. EA is working on an update.

Toxic Sims

Reports from aggrieved players have been flowing regularly to EA's website almost since the introduction of update 1.92.145.1030 on October 11.. Players complain about malicious behavior of their Sims, even if they have peaceful qualities and good relations with the environment. Moreover, even NPCs behave in a similar manner, which ruins the progress of players who have been working on good relationships for a long time.

According to players, the bug occurs whenever the gameplay takes place inside a house. The only exception to the rule is to manually control every Sim action, because leaving them alone immediately leads to destructive behavior.

Players are acting on their own

This morning, EA's support department (after almost 3 weeks after the first reports) gave the problem "resolved" status and confirmed that they are actively working on an appropriate update. What's more, an EA employee confirmed that the team does not need any more reports, which is encouraging, giving hope for a quick resolution of the problem.

In the meantime, impatient players have decided to fix the issue themselves. Neither solution is optimal, but it may help until a patch is released.

  • Modification called MC Command Center enables you to disable autonomous interactions, which in this case is enough to prevent Sims from being annoying to each other.
  • The alternative is disabling the "free will" in the game options - this disables independent actions of player-controlled Sims, but NPCs will continue to be malicious to others.
  • User Kuttoe has released an update fixing this particular problem.
  • Sims with the "loyalty" trait, however, according to players are invulnerable to the problem.

It is worth recalling that The Sims 4 often suffered from bugs, especially with the release of new DLCs. For example, July's High School Years introduced a huge number of issues breaking the game. Also the DLC My Wedding Stories was infamous at first, precisely because of the alarming number of technical errors.
