Dissenters are cult followers who simultaneously oppose your teachings. They will do more harm than help, mainly due to failing to perform their duties. In addition, they frighten other followers and cause loss of faith points. What's more, they may leave the cult after a few days, taking some of your resources like gold.

How to kill dissenters in Cult of the Lamb?

There are several ways to get rid of a follower acting against the cult. Below are some of the possibilities:

  1. Murder dissenter / Ascend dissenter - This way requires building a Temple and having a commandment stone. This will unlock new doctrines in the Crown tab. Then hover over the Law & Order option, which will give you a choice of Murder Follower or Ascend Follower in Tier 1. Selecting one of them will turn the other option off. Either one will make you get rid of the dissenter.
  2. Killing by eating - In Cult of the Lamb, there are meals that have a high chance of killing a dissenter. One such meal is Deadly Dish, which is made with 1x Follower Meat, 1x Poop and 1x Grass. The person who ate this meal has a 75% chance of being killed instantly.
  3. Sacrifice dissenter - The One Who Awaits will bestow a new ritual on you after a few quests - Sacrifice of the Flesh. With this, you can sacrifice one of your dissenter in Temple to gain sermon points, bones and follower meat. However, you will lose 10 faith points on this action. The long cooldown of this action means that you cannot use it all the time.
  4. Sending on a mission - After unlocking the Missionary building, you can send any follower (also a dissenter) on a mission. It is then best to choose one that is very difficult to complete. There is then a good chance that the dissenter you send will die during the expedition.
