The decision to save children from the hospital on Vernen Wells didn't benefit Helldivers 2 players in the game itself. Instead, Arrowhead Studio donated to the Save the Children organization.

A few days ago, the players of Helldivers 2 were faced with an incredibly difficult decision. The game developers issued an order to the Helldivers, which required them to choose between unlocking a new weapon or saving children trapped in a hospital on Super Earth.

Even though from a moral standpoint the lives of small citizens are of paramount value, many participants of the game hesitated greatly before making a decision. Ultimately, however, the honor of the Helldivers didn't allow for leaving the children in need. Players flocked to rescue hospital residents trapped on Vernen Wells.

Even though the task didn't result in the Helldivers gaining a new weapon in the game, their noble conduct was recognized in a different manner. It turns out that thanks to this, the Arrowhead Games studio made a donation to Save the Children.

Since the Helldivers 2 community chose to save the children, Arrowhead Game does the same. We have made a donation to, well, Save the Children. Great job Divers! - announced through X the creative director of the game, Johan Pilestedt.

Let's remember that Save the Children is an international charitable organization founded in 1919, which raises money to improve the lives of children around the world through health care programs, providing educational opportunities and crisis assistance in areas affected by war.

Finally, it's worth adding that the players were also thanked for their great deed in the game itself. The children saved on Super Earth sent the following message to the Helldivers:

Dear Helldivers, thank you so much for saving us. They told us you made a lot of sacrifices (mines/lives) to help us. We'll always be grateful. Now, we can grow up to become Helldivers too.

Below you can also see a drawing created by the rescued children commemorating this wonderful feat (via X).
