Helldivers 2 Is in for Cleanup; Devs Will Address Unfair Kicking, While Patch Undoes Unpopular Changes

An important update is heading to Helldivers 2. The developers are also taking on people abusing the system of kicking players out of the game.

Not everyone who fights against Terminids and Automatons is a patriotic defender of Democracy.Devs of Helldivers 2 want to target saboteurs who kick other players before they receive their mission rewards.

Thomas "Twinbeard" Petersson addressed this malicious practice in a message posted to the game's Discord channel. The developer assured that the Arrowhead Game Studios team is working on an update that will somewhat alleviate this phenomenon. Unfortunately, no details or debut date for the relevant patch have been provided - the developers have not yet decided when they are going to implement this fix in the game.

The practice of kicking out allies just before the end of a mission, although uncommon, can be annoying for players. As you can see, even the lack of formal competition isn't enough to eliminate toxic behaviors from the game.

New mech in the game

As for a bit of other news: players managed to liberate the planet Valyria 5 and thus unlocked the promised mech. The Stratagem EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit is now available for all defenders of Democracy (via X).

The joy of the players from completing the task (which is pleasing after the recent failures of the helldivers) was somewhat spoiled by discussions about the usefulness of this new toy. Some players think that the exosuit is too weak, while others consider these initial opinions to be overstated and a result of balance discussions (via Reddit).

Balance and patrols for repair

Speaking of which, to Helldivers 2 is coming a patch that will undo some of the controversial gameplay balance changes. This is the first visible result of the discussion in the Arrowhead studio after Johan Pilestedt admitted that the team's earlier "fixes" may have been a bit off.

Nevertheless, Twinbeard emphasized (via Discord) that the next update will not be a "patch of patches." The team simply decided that they should slow down because the "quality" of updates suffered due to the rush (no doubt the result of the pressure caused by the sudden success of HD2 and problems with PSN). Therefore, most likely also the announcement of less frequent patches.

As for the more detailed content of the upcoming update, Twinbeard didn't reveal too much. However, he confirmed that the next patch will also fix the problem with patrols (via Discord). The appropriate fix was promised to be implemented last week.
