Microsoft has reasons to be satisfied. Diablo 4, a hack'n'slash RPG by Blizzard Entertainment, is doing great on Game Pass.

  1. Matt Booty from Microsoft boasted that Diablo IV had the best launch in the history of the Game Pass service in terms of the number of hours that users of this service spent playing the game.
  2. Let's remind that Diablo IV was added to the Game Pass offer on March 28th this year. The game's success on this service is even more impressive considering that the title was released for sale in June 2023. This is a very popular item, so many people bought it a long time ago. However, as you can see, thanks to Game Pass, it reached a large group of new players who were not willing to purchase this title.
  3. The release of the fourth season in May was very well received by the players and undoubtedly helped in achieving high activity scores.

Let's remind that Diablo 4 was released on June 6, 2023, simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game is available on Game Pass both on PC and Xbox.

The good streak of Diablo 4 won't end quickly. Blizzard seems to have finally synchronized with the players' expectations as the game development through updates is progressing well. Additionally, the premiere of a major expansion, Vessel of Hatred, is scheduled for November 8th of this year. Paid expansions aren't available as part of the Game Pass, so we are curious about how many people playing Diablo IV through this service will be willing to purchase a DLC.
