It seems like passion are sheer willpower can go great lengths. Two young developers from France are working on an “ultra-realistic” military FPS entitled Bodycam. The production presents a view from titular bodycam explaining specific, slightly lowered view of the weapon and distinct vignette effect. It would be nothing extraordinary if not for graphics which utilises the latest version of Unreal Engine, pushing boundaries of photorealism. This aspect alone draws in many fans, some of which had an opportunity to test the game out in closed beta tests. Soon, it will be available to a broader audience thanks to its release in Early Access. Since we already know that console version of the game is rather unlikely, let’s check if the game will feature singleplayer, offline mode, or only multiplayer in the form of coop and PvP.

Game modes in Bodycam (offline single player, multiplayer coop and PvP)

As Bodycam is developed only by two people, they have to focus their attention on the core functionality of their product to be able to deliver what they have envisioned in a reasonable amount of time. Due to that, when the title enters Early Access program on Steam, there will be only multiplayer available in the form of Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Body Bomb mode with up to 10 people in a lobby. However, the developers promise that the number of game modes will increase after full release in the EA information section on the store page.

If you are the most interested in singleplayer, though, sadly there is no indication that Bodycam will offer such a type of gameplay. That being said, Luca and Leo promised in their roadmap that they will listen to fans’ suggestions, so possibly, if the voices are loud enough, they will consider adding it in the future. You can share your thoughts on the production’s official Discord server. It is also worth noting that implementing more advanced, and thus fun to play against, AI requires a lot of work.

As a side note, if you count on very tactical, simulation experience, that’s not something you will find in Bodycam. This title focuses on immersive and realistic graphics, yet with intense, fun gameplay. Additionally, from what we have seen in the available gameplay videos, maps seem to be rather small and restricted, not allowing for larger operations to be conducted.
