Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? Hades 2 guide, tips

We have dedicated this page of our guide to Hades 2 to Scylla and the Sirens, the second boss in the game, which you will face at the end of Okeanus.

Last update: 09 May 2024

Scylla and the Sirens are the second boss in Hades 2, which you will face at the end of Oceanos. Compared to the previous boss, Hekate, vocalist Scylla, drummer Roxy, and guitarist Jetty present a bigger challenge. On this page of our guide, we show how to fight Sirens, explain their attacks and what tactics you should use to win the battle.

Scylla and Sirens in a nutshell

1 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. The fight takes the form of the so-called bullet hell where you need to pay attention to what every Siren is doing separately and avoid incoming attacks. Try to defeat one of the sirens as soon as possible to make the rest of the battle much easier.
  2. We recommend focusing on Roxy, as she stays in one place throughout the encounter while her attacks cover a large portion of the arena.
  3. Stay mobile to avoid the Sirens' attacks.
  4. At the end of the fight, use your Cast to lock in place and remove hordes of Pinheads that Scylla summons. Focus on lesser enemies, but don't forget to attack Scylla to finish the battle to not prolong the battle much.

Scylla's attacks

2 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. Microphone slam - Scylla freezes in place, raises her microphone and performs a frontal swing. The attack has a small effective radius and Scylla never performs it on her own, only if you get to close to her, so if you stay away, you're safe.
  2. Singing - Scylla sings and her voice summons energy spikes appearing directly in front of her. While singing, she follows you slowly, trying to hit you with the spikes. To avoid this attack, you need to stay at a distance, trying to sprint away from her while maneuvering to avoid the attacks of the remaining band members.
  3. Musical note - Scylla fires a slow, homing projectile shaped like a musical note that follows its target briefly before disappearing. The projectile itself is easy to avoid, but it becomes problematic when you try to avoid the attacks of the remaining band members. Keep moving so as not to let the projectile reach you.
3 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. Spikes - Scylla locks herself in her shell, becoming immune to damage for a few seconds. As the shell opens, Scylla fires an arc of spikes in the direction of Melinoe. Fired spikes are slow, so you have a lot of time to escape by circling Scylla or dashing away from the projectiles.
  2. Spin attack - Scylla summons 4 long blades on the four sides of her body and starts to spin. This attack covers a large portion of the arena which becomes problematic when you have to avoid Roxy's and Jetty's attacks. Remember to stay away from Scylla, and if you're forced to get close, avoid the blades by dashing.
4 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. Summoning minions - in the final part of the battle, Scylla freezes in place and start summoning hordes of Pinheads. Use your Cast to freeze Pinheads in place (cast Omega if you have Magick to spend) and use every free moment to attack Scylla as to finish her as fast as possible. Prioritise lesser enemies over the boss, as the hordes can overwhelm and defeat you very quickly.

Roxy's attacks

5 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. Drum wave - Roxy summons a wave of small explosions that go from one side of the arena to the other one. This is a dangerous attack as explosions ensue very quickly, giving you no time to react. Keep a close eye on red circles on the floor of the arena, and when they get close, dash in the direction opposite to where they came.
  2. Drum explosion - Roxy summons a few explosions that cover either the area around her, or entire arena aside from the small area around her. Look for red color and instantly dash away if you are in the blast zone. If the attack covers the arena, you'll have to get close to Roxy, and this is a perfect opportunity to attack her.
  3. Spotlight - at the beginning of phase two, one of the Sirens will receive a special attack that she will use until the end of the encounter. In case of Roxy, it will be creating patterns of explosions e.g. directly in front of her. Look for red circles on the floor of the arena and defeat Roxy as soon as possible to stop this attack from taking place.

Jetty's attacks

6 - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide
  1. Musical projectiles - Jetty throws a few small, pink projectiles that bounce from the floor in a straight line. The biggest problem with this attack is the small size of the projectiles, as it is easy to overlook them in the heat of the battle. The projectiles fly in a straight line, so if one comes at you, you need to dash away.
  2. Disorientation missiles - Jetty prepares for a riff with her guitar and then shoots a series of sonic projectiles. They do not deal damage but disorient you temporarily, making avoiding other attacks much harder. The projectiles fly in a straight line so you need to avoid them - sprint across the arena or perform Dashes, as Jetty adjusts her aim as the attack continues, always aiming straight at you.
  3. Slide - Jetty slides towards you, attempting a melee attack. At the end of the slide, a shockwave is fired. Avoid the attack with a well-timed dash and stay away from Jetty until the shockwave disappears.
  4. Spotlight - at the beginning of phase two, one of the Sirens will receive a special attack that she will use until the end of the encounter. In case of Jetty, these are continuous slides that create shockwaves both where the Siren stops and from where she started the slide. Watch Jetty carefully to avoid her attacks, fight her at a distance, and eliminate her as quickly as possible to have one less problem to worry about.

How to fight Scylla and the Sirens?

Scylla and Sirens are a tough encounter designed to test your positioning skills - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide

Scylla and Sirens are a tough encounter designed to test your positioning skills. To win the fight, you have to knock down Scylla three times, and the remaining Sirens twice. The biggest threat during this battle is a constant barrage of projectiles and attacks. The Sirens' attacks do not pose a threat when separated, but together they create a bullet hell covering almost the entire arena, forcing you to constantly relocate in search for a safe space.

To make the fight easier, try to eliminate one of the Sirens as soon as possible - this will facilitate the fight, as there will be fewer attacks that you need to worry about. We recommend focusing on Roxy first - her attacks can cover a large portion of the arena and are the most difficult to avoid. The drumming Siren spends the entire fight in one location, and one of her attacks forces you to get close to her, making her the easiest target.

After getting rid of one of the Sirens, you will be able to breathe a little - Hades 2: How to beat Scylla? - Bosses - Hades 2 Guide

After getting rid of one of the Sirens, you will be able to breathe a little. Scylla's attacks are slow the easiest to recognize, as she is the biggest and most obvious target - you cannot attack her from behind, as her shell will block your attacks. Jetty, on the other hand, is dangerous mainly because of her small size, as it is easy to lose sight of it during the battle. After defeating all Sirens, they will rise once again, with one of them receiving a spotlight that will make her attacks more powerful - defeat the spotlight siren as soon as possible. There are explosive vessels at the edges of the arena - making them explode may help you get rid of Jetty, who often passes near them.

Once you defeat all SIsters once again, Scylla will rise for the final time, desperately summoning large hordes of quick, dangerous Pinheads. Here is where your Cast will come into play, as it can lock enemies in place, giving you more room to maneuver. Focus on the Pinheads and don't get overwhelmed, attacking Scylla whenever you get the chance, and you will eventually defeat the Sirens, unlocking the passage to the Fields of Mourning.
