Actual notes in 2077? Really?. Elements from The Witcher that failed in Cyberpunk

Table of Contents

I've read them, but I'd rather listen. Maybe in the sequel?

Nothing, however, killed the immersion and pacing of Cyberpunk 2077 as much as having to read the notes. Don't get me wrong – I don't have a particular problem with reading. I simply believe that notes found in this particular game should be audiologs, especially in some of the action-packed places.

Am I being picky? Perhaps, after all, there are classic notes in other AAA productions as well. But, crap, these developers aspired to be the best of the business. In addition, the game takes us to 2077; given the technological advances, I find it hard to imagine that people are still commonly typing in text.

The notes in Cyberpunk 2077 are, of course, another derivative from The Witcher 3. Only that in the fantasy world based on medieval times, they make a little more sense than in the reality dominated by technology eight hundred years later. You could easily have a single voice for reading all of them, too. Maybe CD Projekt RED was a bit too much inspired by Mike Pondsmith's pen-and-paper Cyberpunk 2020 – but this is a topic for a separate story.
