In the second round of the year, Ferrari’s normal line-up of Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz Jr. was changed – as the latter was forced out due to illness.

Who to step up but Britain’s future star – Oliver Bearman. The current F2 driver is the test and reserve driver for both Haas & Ferrari, and when Carlos Sainz had to pull out due to Appendicitis, Fred Vasseur asked Ollie to replace the Spanish star. Bearman was in Jeddah for the F2 round – and having already qualified on pole, he pulled out in order to fully focus on the F1 race ahead of him. As he was only drafted in on Saturday, he only FP3 to get acquainted with the car ahead of qualifying.

The inexperienced Brit performed incredibly admirably. He qualified in 11th place, missing out on Q3 by just 0.04 of a second. During the race, Bearman maneuvered his car excellently, making some incredible overtakes on the likes of Nico Hulkenberg & Yuki Tsunoda. He went on to finish in 7th place, ahead of both Hamilton and Norris.

Not only was this a great result considering that he jumped in at a moment's notice, but he was just 18 years old at the time. Becoming the 3rd youngest debutant in F1 history.

This incredible performance has been captured by the world-renowned photographer, James Moy, and framed in-house at F1 Authentics so that you can own a special moment from the 2024 season. A season of many incredibly moments.
