The YouTube Music samples feature is currently in its testing stage and will soon roll out to users. This feature is similar to the YouTube Shorts feature that is present on the video streaming platform. But, why will YouTube want to bring this TikTok competing feature over to their music streaming app?

There is currently no explanation as to why this feature is making an appearance on the YouTube Music app. But it will allow users to scroll through short videos while using the music streaming app. Some might argue that having this feature on two apps from the same developer on one device is a bit too much.

Regardless, this feature is in the testing phase and will soon be

available on your YouTube Music app. So, despite how you feel about having short-form videos on your YouTube Music app, you should prepare for its arrival. But this feature might operate differently from the regular YouTube Short feature that you are already familiar with.

The coming YouTube Music samples feature might stand out from the already existing YouTube Shorts

YouTube rolled out its short-form video section a few years ago, and ever since then, it has got a ton of attention. Creators from around the world have taken their creative talent to YouTube to make short-form videos. Also, everyday YouTube users often find themselves scrolling through videos in the Shorts section of the app and engaging with some videos.

Now this feature is coming to the YouTube Music app after it is cleared its testing phase. Some users have already got their hands on this short-form video feature on YouTube, Music known as samples. If you are hearing of this for the first time, you might feel that it will be the same thing as the Short feature on the YouTube video-sharing platform.

The first feature that tells Shorts and YouTube Music samples apart is the icon within their apps. As you might already be familiar with, the Shorts icon is an ‘S’ shape with a play button within it. But the YouTube Music samples icon is simply a play button that overlays a smaller play button that is still visible.

For now, that is the only clear difference between these two short-form video features. But sources assume that the YouTube Music samples might just display music videos in under 60 seconds. This is different from Shorts which allow creators to create videos across a wide range of categories.

The samples button will sit at the bottom of the interface along with the Home, Explore, and Library buttons. Part of its functions might be to display song suggestions to users in the form of short videos. At the moment, this feature is in its testing phase and might roll out to users via an app update in the coming weeks.
