Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. It’s a relatively minor update but likely fixes some bugs that users have been reporting lately. The OTA (over the air) release is currently available in the US. It should soon cross boundaries and reach other territories too.
The latest update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is rolling out with firmware versions R870XXU1EVB4 and R880XXU1EVB4 respectively. The accompanying changelog doesn’t reveal much about its content and simply says “improved system stability and reliability.”
But we hope this release fixes some of the bugs that snuck into the latest Samsung smartwatches with prior updates. Most notably, users have been complaining about multiple issues following the massive update earlier this month. Both models received several new features such as fitness goals, real-time display of VO2 Max percentage, Sleep Coaching, and more.
Unfortunately, this update also introduced some bugs. Users have reported issues with older watch faces, Google Pay, sleep tracking, and some other features. While it’s unclear whether the latest update fixes any of these bugs, there’s a possibility that it does. We will let you know as and when we have more information.
Galaxy Watch 4 series gets another software update
Launched last August, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are some of the best Wear OS smartwatches out there. They run the latest Wear OS version that Google co-developed with Samsung. We still have Samsung’s much-loved UI on top, as well as the Korean biggie’s signatory rotating bezel (Classic model only). As we concluded in our review, this device offers an “unrivaled experience” in the smartwatch scene.
Since their release, Samsung has rolled out several updates to the Galaxy Watch 4 duo, further refining the user experience. Not everything always goes as planned, of course, with users having to face some issues at times. But the company is usually quick to address those issues with software updates. The latest release is likely another such update with bug fixes in tow.
If you’re rocking a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, you can expect to receive a new update in the coming days. As said before, the OTA rollout is currently only available to users in the US but it shouldn’t be long before more regions join the party. Watch out for a notification from the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone.
