Far West Texas 101

A Land Stewardship workshop caring for the greater Alamito Valley.

We are excited to announce Far West Texas 101: A Workshop for Engaging the Land on Friday, August 2 in Marfa. This event is designed to orient decision-makers to the unique Texas Big Bend region.

Whether you are a local resident, a prospective land buyer, a Big Bend old-timer, or simply curious about the Texas Big Bend Region, we invite you to join us for a workshop about land stewardship and an opportunity to meet new neighbors.

The workshop will focus on the basic principles for sustainable land management, applied especially to Far West Texas. With unique physical and biological conditions, the Texas Big Bend has challenged ancient people, early settlers, and current inhabitants, who have all left their mark on the land, enriching the culture and history of Far West Texas. The various sessions will provide big-picture context and insights into the capabilities and limitations of the land, featuring seven expert speakers (who really know West Texas) and two panel discussions.

You will have opportunities to network with representatives from various organizations and connect with others passionate about land stewardship. We hope the insights you gain will help you achieve your management goals.
