Description
Take back Vietnam from the communists!

Four specialist U.S. teams co-operate to build bases and destroy the VC in this unique, intense, persistent mission.

Current Version: v1.00.03

Vietnam has been infiltrated by communist forces from the North! Choose one of four specialist teams, and co-operate to build bases, expand capability and find and destroy the enemy in this unique, intense, combined arms, conquest mission.

To survive in the jungle, you will need food, water and medicine, tools for building, and a lot of ammo! Earn rank points and medals completing tasks in order to unlock better equipment and support!

- Join the Armored Cavalry (ACAV) team to build Forward Operating Bases (FOB's) and run the gauntlet in truck convoys bringing essential supplies.

- Join the Green Hornets team to transport men and materials to remote outposts or directly into a hot LZ on the battlefield, or fly Close Air Support (CAS).

- Join Mike Force team to patrol the jungles, mountains, rivers, swamps and streets, sweeping for enemy camps and fighting positions, and garrison the FOB's when they come under relentless attack from the VC!

- Join the Spike Team to operate deep in enemy territory, evading hostile forces while locating and identifying enemy installations.

An intelligent AI commander ensures that no mission is ever the same in this persistent, challenging, dynamic and immersive Vietnam experience!

Mike force is now out of beta!
We'll still be delivering regular updates to the mission, with input from the community.

Usage

You may host it on your servers and play it in its published state only.
This is a temporary restriction, that will last until the end of the Mike Force beta. We want to ensure all players have the best, most up-to-date experience possible - and that's unfortunately not feasible if people start producing variants!

We hope to make the mission available for changes after its full release - thanks for understanding!

Dedicated Server
It's strongly advised to the run mission on a dedicated server to improve performance. To further improve performance for clients, 1-2 headless clients are recommended.

To install:
  • Subscribe to the workshop item
  • Find the file named `(numbers)_legacy.bin` at `<steam install path>\steamapps\workshop\content\107410\2611728350`
  • Copy and rename the file to `vn_mf_latest.vn_khe_sanh.pbo`
  • Upload the file to the `mpmissions` folder on your server

For an alternative download, use a website for downloading workshop items such as:

Some hosting providers are also able to download the mission directly using a Steam Workshop integration.

In order to see the mission in-game, the server must have the CDLC loaded.

LAN Hosting
LAN hosting isn't advised, especially with large player numbers. However, it does work for small numbers of players.

To install, subscribe to the workshop mod. You'll then see the mission available when attempting to a host a server, when you have the CDLC enabled.

Recommended Settings
The following things are guidelines for experiencing Mike Force as it's designed:
  • Set the AI to Regular difficulty. This can be using the normal "Regular" difficulty setting, or by setting `aiLevelPreset = 1` in your Arma 3 Profile's custom difficulty settings.
  • Play with TFAR. TFAR significantly improves communication among teams, and reduces unnecessary background chatter.
  • Play without ACE. ACE is a fantastic mod, but it's also large and touches a lot of Arma's core gameplay. This might have unintended consequences on the balance of the mission. If you do want to play with ACE, it's *strongly* advised to disable ACE medical. It will conflict with the CDLC's revive system, and will also make the game significantly harder.

License

S.O.G. Prairie Fire is a paid DLC and can be modded by the community like any vanilla content.
Mike Force, the Compatibility Pack and the Language Pack are not part of the DLC, they are Community content published by Savage Game Design on Steam as a free mod.
Re-uploads or modifications of our mod content are not permitted at this stage.

had an issue, unable to select between teams, when i press H to enter menu the usual a\option to swap between ACAV/green hornet/ETC was blank as if missing, Persons on server also not able to change roles at duty officer. Dedicated server, switched back to Lan Cao nam and everything works fine

When i play on LAN singleplayer there is some weird stutter every 5 seconds. doesnt happen when i play on someones dedicated server tho. i played for 2 hours and it didnt go away even when nothing was happening. i guess my CPU cant handle this mission when im hosting myself for whatever reason.

USMC RTO backpack not working as intended.

Cannot request air or arty support when using the usmc rto backpack.

Step to reproduce: Equip USMC RTO backpack. Train to be a Radio operator at duty officer, scroll mouse, no radio support available.

On local hosting, is there a built in save feature or would I need something like simple persist?

@Wirbelwind - Are you changing any of the parameters at the start of each mission? The one at the top (wipe save game) should be false. MF saves your progress automatically, so unless you're opting to reset each time, it should save.

Greetings,

We do have a problem, when we set up an dedicated Server with mike force. On Khe Sanh / Cam Lao Nam we do set up the server, could set up task force radio (even tho it is pain). The mod works as it should (tfr aswell). BUT

How do we enable an persistent save system? Each time the server restarts, progress gets wiped and the mission needs to be set again by every restart. Mission configurations (fatigue system, snake bites and those little stuff needs to be adjusted every time aswell). Well after trying for like an week, trying multiple stuffm, our knowlegde met his end. Is there like any legit way, to save progress like in the Antistasi persistent save system? Finally - arma 3 saveGame works nothing.

When I try to host this mission, I get an error "No entry 'steamMPMission\__cur_mp.vn_khe_sanh\mission.sqm.version'."

Also, there is no directory '2611728350' among other Arma workshop mods, so I cannot find the x_legacy.bin to get the PBO.

Hey, Works great! But I'm noticing sectors cannot be taken under control. Khe sanh worked fine, but Old French Fort, and Kok I cannot capture even after everything is destroyed and sector is clear.

it seems the new arma 3 update today managed to bug mike force to where your unable to load into the session, you get hung up at the map where you'd hit continue, but there is no button.
