Is it coop campaign or something? Is it playable with gf?

When launching the game I am able to get to the pop up menu about launching the game, video settings, and map editor, but when I try to launch it past that point nothing happens, it does not show up on my screen, Steam says it is launched, in the task manager I can see it in the "background process" but it never shows up on my screen. it has worked in the past but when i reinstalled it on my new comp it just does this.
