After a week of research, headaches, and frustration, I have finally identified the source of crashes, memory leaks, and high memory usage. The culprit was the "latest" facial motion capture technology released by Epic Games called Metahuman Animator.

Safest solution to use, was to remove the facial animations and replace them with a popular face censorship effect, which has resulted in no more crashes and significantly lower GPU temperatures and memory usage.

Thank you for your patience. I hope this solution FINALLY fixed your issues.

Additionally, as an apology for this very unpleasant issue, I have added a very atmospheric VHS filter along with appropriate sound effect. You can enable and disable it in the main menu and on the pause screen.

- 100% fixed crashing before the cutscene with the Sheriff.
- 100% fixed crashing before the initial cutscene with a client.
- Reduced memory usage, CPU and GPU temperatures during cutscenes and gameplay.
- Added VHS filter along with the appropriate sound effect for it.

There's no such thing as a break.

I'm coming back to you with what is probably the most eagerly awaited update. I believe I've finally managed to fix the game's crashing issues, especially the crash before the cutscene with the sheriff. I've made some improvements to the voice recognition and fixed a few minor issues. I hope this helps.

- Fixed crashing before the cutscene with the Sheriff.
- Fixed crashing before the initial cutscene with a client.
- Reduced memory usage during cutscenes.
- Locked cutscenes to 60fps to reduce memory leakage and the usage of GPU and CPU.
- Improved voice recognition commands and made it clearer how to use them by adding a widget that explains them when you open the game.
- Prevented being attacked or using the microphone meter during the cutscene with the Sheriff.
- Fixed an error where, after completing the fuses puzzle, the game still didn't recognize that you finished it when asked, "Can you help me?".

Hi,

I'm bringing you a pretty big update in which I've fixed a lot of issues. Thanks to your feedback on Discord, I was able to improve many things, and I hope this significant update will help you.

- Optimized and improved perfomance on the entire level and improved LOD of some 3D models to ensure a higher frame rate.

- Added microphone configuration option in the pause menu next to the Discord icon.

- Added a game launch option to maximize your experience. If you have any issues with the game or it crashes, select the DirectX11 option when launching the game. If you have a powerful computer and no issues with the game, select DirectX12.

- Optimized microphone settings to reduce noise detection and focus more on your voice.

- Susan cannot attack you or react to the microphone from the moment you gain access to a weapon.

- Improved Susan's AI logic and randomized paths.

I am entirely convinced this was written by AI. As others have pointed out, the story makes absolutely no sense, nothing adds up.

(I'm going to mention some "spoilers" here) First "Susan" is said to be an 80 something year old, by the end of the game it's saying she was pregnant with a family and implies the Sherif was in love with her. I mean, even her ghost is clearly an elderly woman. Various instances throughout the game seem to have no correlation or add any meaning to the story. The game is glitchy and controls very strangely. The voice acting is pretty mediocre. I guess the general atmosphere is pretty creepy at times, I got jumpscared a few times but they become very repetitive and annoying after a while.

As the game currently stands, I just wouldn't bother. If the developer can make the story into something coherent and get the bugs sorted out, I could see this being something decent.

Idk y'all, I just can't recommend this game. I gave it a 4.5/10 and my community agreed.

*LIKELY SPOILERS AHEAD*

The graphics on this engine are good, that's always going to be the case on modern games. However, everything other than that was sub-par. Bella's character movement during the video chat scene felt sloppy and dialogue was possible AI but it felt very flat. The ghost roaming the halls was creepy but not overly scary, puzzles felt very basic and it became a cycle of watch camera, hear dog bark, find dog with hidden message, find the appropriate puzzle piece, repeat. It also EASILY took over 30 shots to kill the person at the end, a lot of things just didn't make sense. This is the type of game where beginners to horror will find it scary, or people who are easily jump scared and creeped out will find it scary. I've played so many other horror titles, and this one just doesn't stand with the rest of them.

This game was very impressive for only 1 person developing it! The ghost did get pretty predictable after a while and was no longer scary, but overall it was a fun experience and I applaud the dev for the hard work! Very well done!
