Great premise, good atmosphere, repetitive gameplay, clunky controls, horrible save system.

I thought I was getting a driving game, but the driving part is mostly not what I was doing and mostly not very enjoyable.

Wanted to like it, sadly did not.

Refunded after an hour playtime. I like the concept, the setting and gameplay was fine, but I simply cannot stand for a game that punishes you for not having hours to spend completing a mission. So you played for 40 minutes but need to go do some real life work? Too bad, all mission progress and items looted are now forefeit. Come back and try again when you have more free time. No mid mission saves, no checkpoints, nothing. You either set aside the time needed to finish a mission completely, or don't play at all.
I have little enough time for games nowadays as it is, so playing one that demands you spend however long it mandates to complete a mission rather than have a save anywhere, or even mid-mission checkpoints, absolutely sucks.
Not to mention the fact that the game is buried under about 5 million menus and the worlds worst UI means this is an easy refund.

Great story, great voice acting, great style. 10/10 in that department.
My main issue with the game is a lack of sensible progression and diversity. Introduction was very promising, showing off different enemy types, which serve as a creative threat to the player. But once you progress to the midgame you realize that you will be treated with copycat enemies that are hardly different. “New” enemies would just have a different damage type with the only strategy - avoid. There is no incentive to leave the car and study them, because you know all you need to know about the anomalies - don’t get close to them. Which turns the gameplay element of studying anomalies into chores that you need to do to unlock upgrades.
There is a clear incentive for you to craft upgrades and not collect upgrades, as recycling car parts from abandoned cars was made expensive. Taking parts of abandoned cars requires the use of scarce resources that are difficult to get, while crafting new parts is relatively cheap.
Game doesn’t offer saves and the average “run” could take up to an hour which is insane for a single player game. But to be fair, the game is “saved” once you leave the area so you can divide the experience in smaller parts.
For a game that tells you about mysterious anomalies with the lore, the game is surprisingly manageable and stable. There are no unexpected threats in the game at all, there are no scary monsters in the woods that can scare you off, there are no secret anomalies that could unexpectedly change your plans, nothing like that.
There is none. Threats are either immortal or an area effect, so the only strategy is avoiding them. First anomalies in the game actually offer a lot of creativity, you can distract them with flairs, trigger them by throwing trash at them etc, tricks you into continuing playing just to be disappointed with mid and late game. There is no feel of new mechanics with the game progression, you essentially know everything from the introduction.
Game is pretty demanding in terms of specs for what it is going for, but it is impressive to have such a good looking game AND a functional mirror. Too bad there is literally zero use for said mirror, as it’s dark most of the time and there is like one enemy type that chases you. Make it optional.

Hope that helps. Game is a good time-sink if you need one, gameplay loop is addictive enough to keep coming back. Driving is relaxing. It’s pretty impressive for a small team. Makes me wish to have a second installment that would work on the issues of the first, as this concept is brilliant.
