Content specific issues

This expansion largely focuses on relationships and dating with implied sexual content. There are new romance interactions where characters can ‘seductive dance’, ‘steamy make out’, or dress up in costumes to seduce their partner. Players can also set goals for their character’s dates, including ‘woohoo’ or ‘physical intimacy’, which will reward the player when completed. As in previous versions of the game, sex or ‘woohoo’ takes place out of view although objects can be seen moving with the characters making sounds underneath. As with the base game and previous expansions, the game contains moderate violence towards humans. Characters can die in a variety of ways, including by electrocution, drowning and being set on fire. However, all the deaths are presented in an exaggerated and unrealistic manner.

Advice for consumers

This game has received a PEGI 18 which restricts availability to ADULTS ONLY and is not suitable for persons under 18 years of age. This rating has been given because it features violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters and depictions of sexual violence, and use of strong language.

Brief outline of the game

Collection comprised of two RPG games: LISA: The Painful and LISA: The Joyful. Set in a dystopian pixelated world where women have died out and only men remain, Brad finds a young girl, Buddy, and decides to hide her away with hopes of protecting her. When she is seemingly kidnapped years later, Brad ventures out to find her and is faced with many enemies hoping to steal Buddy for themselves in order to repopulate humankind.

Content specific issues

Both games within this collection feature depictions of sexual violence and threats, such as a young girl having her nipple cut off, though this isn’t seen in detail. There are also many occasions alluding to the same girl being sexually assaulted. The games also feature depictions of violence towards defenceless humans, where restrained characters are beaten or killed. Overall, the violence in both games is unrealistic due to the game’s pixelated style, but non-detailed blood and gore is visible as a result of violence. These games contain strong language including frequent use of ‘fuck’. Milder bad language was also found including 'shit’ ‘queers’, ‘prick’ and ‘bitch’.

Other issues

This collection contains depictions of sexual themes throughout, where characters reference sex acts. Players can also make extra money by standing in a room in their underwear and seducing clients. In both games, the world is populated with dead bodies and gore. Due to the pixelated style of the game, gore is not detailed, but it is a frequent part of the scenery. Themes of suicide are prevalent across both games, with a couple of characters shooting themselves on screen. The animation for this is unrealistic, with no blood or gore visible until after the characters are dead. Players are able to consume alcohol which grants them a strength buff but decreases their accuracy in combat.

When the player’s character is hit, there is a blast of light and numbers above the head that indicate damage, as well as a splash of blood which is seen as the character loses health from their health bar in the top left corner. Similarly, violence towards fantasy characters garners the same reactions, with flashes on hit, numbers indicating damage and enemies disappearing when defeated.

The player does not see the process or aftermath of this death. This game contains use of the word ‘fuck’ and its derivatives. Milder language is also used, including ‘asshole’ and ‘shit’. Drug content is prevalent within the game, with characters shown taking ecstasy and smoking marijuana. In addition to this, there is a scene in which two characters inhale lighter fluid to get high.
