I only make reviews when I get super glad or super mad about an anime. In this case, I got real mad.
Please take notes that I talk about stuff that are spoilers for those who didn't saw the entire anime.
Blue Exorcist had a GIGANTIC potential to be a super fucking mega shounen series (like Bleach and Naruto and all that shit)... if only the story had been better developed!!!!!!
They made all the plot available in the manga at the time into a 25 episodes anime when it had enough for like, 5 seasons, not kidding:
- Season 1: History of the characters; basic explanation of supernatural
...
creatures and differences between humans, nephilim, demons and other races; beginning of the Academy and explanation of the classes of exorcists.
- Season 2: Development of the characters; demonstrations of more spells and abilities of exorcists; advancement of the characters to ex-wires class; larger missions with stronger demons; those silly beach episodes to replace the ridiculous amount of fanservice in this damn thing.
- Season 3: First major villain, more character development, cooler fights, stronger teams, more involvement with other stronger classes. Rin finally have a team now that has the right division of classes with friends that are Doctors, Tamers, Knights, Arias, Dragoons.
- Season 4: Another exam for the characters to go up in exorcists classes, showing more of the abilities of each one of Rin main friends and some of the best teachers; development of evil villains and sects; Yuri discovers and develops his hidden demonic powers; beginning of the final plot.
- Season 5: Rin develops demon powers to the point of having strength equivalent to a Paladin; more epic struggles; more history; some important char dies; revenge race; discovery of links that connects the malevolent sects with Satan or with the corruption of the Vatican; some fucking explanation of what the fuck were Mephisto's real intentions; final fight against Satan and other villains with Ryu's gang helping Rin. Reconstruction of the Academy and the Vatican, creating a balance between supernatural creatures with humans (something very close to what happened with Legend of Korra). The love triangle between Yuri, Rin and Shiemi resolves with Shiemi and Yuri getting together. Ryu stays with his sweetheart too. There is so much fucking bait romance in this shit man, I swear to god!
IT WOULD BE A FUCKING AWESOME STORY. AND I JUST MADE IT UP IN LIKE 10 FUCKING MINUTES
But no.
This anime was released in 2011, had an even shorter season in 2017 (apparently with very similar mistakes) and until today there is no signs of a third season, so that's it! The studio shoved the entire manga in these racing episodes and kinda ruined the whole story. It was full of holes, loose ends, poor development, shitty fights, stupid cliches, and of course, those fucking annoying and unnecessary scenes of imbecile sexualization - since you can only be a strong female lead in anime if you show a lot of titties and pink babydoll panties with your skin shining like hell when no other character has the same shine applicated into their skin colors.
Now, imagine that the director of this garbage was the storyboard of epic things like Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Samurai Champloo and Evangelion.
I'm getting too old to watch anime...
But lemme just say: I will definitely give a shot to the manga, hoping to see a better development, cuz I really, really loved the concept of Ao.

I love everything about this anime. It is probably one of the most interesting, innovative and well-made shoujos I have ever seen in my life. I was anxious to be able to watch it and now I feel that all my expectations are being fulfilled very well. And I'm still being surprised.
Art (10)
The first thing I wanted to mention about it, is the beauty of the drawing and the color palette. The colors are mostly very soft, pastel tones, giving a more innocent and pure connotation for the protagonist characters. The antagonists, in turn, always receive stronger colors - I found this quite interesting.

In addition, colors also direct well the emotions that viewers must feel: sad themes lead to environments in navy blue, joyful themes ranges from an orange rose to all the colors of the rainbow. It's just beautiful to watch.
The character traits are all super delicate - from the strands of hair to the minutest details of the eyes, the clothes and even the movement of the wind. Even before the series was released, it was this delicacy that made me super excited to be able to follow the anime. I admit: it is my weakness. The way the studio stayed true to Umeda Abi's art style made me very happy too. She is a wonderful mangaka. I really, really loved the art.
Sound (10)
The second thing I wanted to mention is the wonderful soundtrack. A lot of people don't pay much attention to this kind of detail, but I'm completely in love with the entire OST without even having access to the media yet. It's the kind of OST that I definitely have the interest to get for my collection. And the ending theme! Oh goddess, I love this song. Rionos' voice is simply angelic, this song always gives me goosebumps. The lyrics of the song are very cute and practically whispered, harmonizing a lot with the soft tone that the anime passes, the idea of purity and sadness.
Story (9)
The story is a bit hazy at first and is being built slowly, like a puzzle. To the present moment, I am giving it a 9 because I still don't know the end of it. I hope it continues to surprise me positively. But it's worth the rate because it's the kind of plot you normally expect from a shounen manga, an adventure full of tragic and even violent twists.
Characters (8)
The characters follow a similar path of history: they are all poorly developed. The story focuses on Chakuro, the narrator, but it explores a bit of several other characters, so it leaves little room for deeper development. The viewer knows the names of the characters, whether they are ordinary humans or controllers of thymia and in some cases, a bit of the past of one or another. But yet their emotions - or their lack - are so well worked out that it also thrills you. Again, I hope to continue to be positively surprised in this regard.
Okay, I may sound a bit partial here because I love their design, but there's no way you can watch this series and not want to hug Chakuro and protect him from all the malice in the world. They are all just adorable.
Enjoyment/Overall (9)
I'm having loads of fun and getting lots of excitement too. I love these silly and delicate stories involving human feelings, thematizing individual freedom, the value of life and friendship. This story is a root shoujo (which means it couldn't be more original to the genre, I guess)!
So, if you like shoujo stories like I do, I'm pretty sure you are going to like this one quite much.

Writing a review for the second season of Hibike was not an easy task to do. Maybe because I'm a musician, this get even more emotional and hard to express in words. But all I can feel for this anime is love. I have the most deep and fond love for this whole story. So, please, don't expect a totally unbiased review, I really can't talk about it without showing how awesome for a musician is to see a music genre anime like that and not talk about it with passion and even excuse some minor failures. Specially because here I'm talking more as musician

than as an anime fan. Even more specially when there are so few animes about concert music.
One of the things that enchants me the most in this anime without a doubt is the art: the typical trait from Kyoto Animation purely amazes me. You can lose yourself in the small details of the eyes of the characters, the lights in the landscapes, all the random background scenarios... They're all beautiful. But, do not fool yourself, despite the delicacy of the traits, the plot is a little more deeper than the vast majority of this genre from KyoAni, especially K-on!, that is probably more known and relatable to Hibike.
I also want to make it clear that I simply admire a lot the work of a studio that is bound to make an anime of this kind with such dedication and offer the viewers an outcome in which hardly are found visual and aesthetic defects. This enables us to pay more attention to details, let's say, "more important" as the details of the plot. Still, the art is absolutely seductive.
Throughout the story all the characters and especially Kumiko had a lot of developing, maturing and growing both intra and interpersonally. It's a fun and interesting process to watch and sometimes this get really exciting, especially for those who like to keep up with musical improvements and friendship strengthening. Also, there is something about each character that gives you the feeling that there aren't really just one main character and some other few supporters. They are all important, they all have background stories, they all matter somehow. The same thing happens when you see an orchestra: all musicians are important, all of them makes a difference and all of them have their special solo moments of shining bright. Then you get lost in the stories and personalities of every one of them, even the annoying and cliché ones. Nevertheless, some shine enough so you'll probably forget the most boring ones. I had a quite funny time paying attention to some characters in particular, though my favorite character, which is Reina, end up stealing this attention several times. There are some characteristics in her personality that blend in me sensations that I feel and some that I really wanted to feel.
In fact, talking about the story, Hibike is very focused on relationship issues. You see the characters having all kinds of relationships: lost love, platonic love, unrequited love and pure love. And despite KyoAni appeal, unfortunately there's some fanservice when it comes to love relationship among girls, especially between Kumiko and Reina. All the scenes that they were together saying suggestive things about their relationship made me very happy and cheering for them, so it's a pitty that is seemingly something that only will be there for fanservice. This is why I don't give the story the maximum rate. Forget about fanservice, KyoAni, please. We had enough of it. Also, the pace. Gosh, don't kill me with that slow pace. I can handle drama quite well, just make it fast and end it up okay, for goodness sake.
Now, to talk about the sound part is my favorite thing ever in Hibike. That's the part that makes my body shiver from emotion. The first thing I want to say is that if you guys like this kind of music and never been into an orchestra concert before, I strongly recommend that. Because then you can fully understand the feeling of being in a musical presentation and lose yourself in each musical movement of the piece. Only then you can comprehend how it is for a musician being pressured to impress, to touch and reach the heart of the audience. That all the effort until there was worth it. And believe me, it's A LOT of effort.
Second thing I want to say is that I'm envious. I really wanted that kind of club when I were at school. Because that kind of effort is really something, to get so far in musical competitions IS a big deal, and to see that this is being taken seriously by students that probably won't all become musicians, you know, seeing non-musicians liking music that much is a heartwarming thing to see.
Third thing: the OST is amazing. Really beautiful. The choices they made for the songs for the band to play are incredibly invigorating and astonishing. Matsuda Akito did a wonderful job here, I became a huge fan of him and I'm going to listen to the soundtrack whenever I can. Also, the choices of female characters playing instruments that aren't common or expected to the gender was something that made me very very happy. Seeing girls playing brass and percussion instruments was something inspiring.
Finally, I wanted to say that episode five, in especial, brought me to tears. And, of course, made me happy for being a musician and gave me more strength to keep on doing what I love. It's absolutely wonderful to be encouraged to do what you love by something else that you also love.
So, Hibike is an anime about the burning desire to make your seemingly impossible ambitions come to life. And that's why I like it so much, and also that's why I was super anxious for this new season. I wanted to feel all of those emotions again. Even though I probably haven't been able to fully explain as well as I would like and demonstrate to you guys how beautiful I found this animation, I really hope each of you, who read this wall-text to the end, can give it a look and be surprised yourselves.

This was a fine story destroyed by fanservice. And I'm here writing this only cuz I'm f* tired of it.
Ok, I get it. Dudes were trying to show all the aspects of a japanese animation, but they felt on the most ridiculous points of cliché and "chuunibyou" syndrome ever...
First of all, If the anime is not gendered as ecchi, PLEASE DON'T PUT ECCHI SCENES ON IT! Jesus christ mary and joseph! I'm sick and tired of this shit everywhere. It's really frustrating trying to watch a quality anime and see it falling into the roughest possible traps. I felt like I was watching a

much trashier version of K-ON! And I like K-ON!, but this... Oh god. I can't.
But please, don't get me wrong. I really saw potential in this story. The idea of passing on minimal details of production, dubbing or details of Japanese culture in general seemed extremely interesting. But the problem is: it did not sound that way. It sounded forced, blasé. Honestly, I'd be really scared to encounter such a nerdy otaku like the characters in this series. They look like damn traveling encyclopedias (not kidding). Kinda of ruins the idea of normal fan and starts to give an idea of obsessed fans. Not a big deal but then it wasn't even funny... Besides, it looked like one of those awkward advertisement where the lines are so forced that they seem too mechanical and.. well, cringy.
I REALLY hate fanservice, but hey, we are talking about anime, so, f*, that shit is really everywhere, ruining everything and there's nothing you can do about it. So I can manage some level of fanservice depending on the quality of the story, although I still hate it. But there comes a time when it gets really annoying. Then, comes the plot, that was fine but again, shoved unnecessary scenes that are only there to make you feel uncomfortable (unless you are a pervert, and in that case you are a creep).
Btw, those scenes showing the intimate parts of Yui while exercising at every beginning of episode in a TOTALLY disconnected way with the story? Cheeky fanservice... Gosh. And please don't talk to me about "reference" bullshit. Kill la Kill was doing reference (somehow). Not this.
You know, there is no need to throw a girl on a guy's pelvis and make her rub her boobs on him to make the story look romantic. Geez, as a girl I feel sincerely angry about it. It's not only stupid, it's degrading... I could stay here for ages talking boring stuff about how Japanese culture (all of it, but ok) of animation in general is highly sexist and sometimes worse (please forgive me Hayao Miyazaki, you sir are not included). So it is very disappointing to find female characters that you can relate to and then watch it fall onto stereotypes, or end up on stories which encourages futile female rivalries, creates objectified characters - and of course, fanservice or clichés that border the ridiculous.
Besides, the art is confusing. Drawing does not look consistent. Scenarios are beautiful and everything. The problem is the characters itself. Their design is very different from one character to another, as if they belonged to different animes (it may be purposeful, but it does not look aesthetically ok). Also, Minoa's hair is... really... Weird.
Sound is fine too. Nothing relevant to talk about it. And I really like talking about OST, so I'm kinda disappointed.
Character development is virtually nonexistent or absurdly explosive. In one day they seem one thing and then, suddenly, they look like something else. You know that K-ON! thing I said before? So, Minoa is like a silliest version of Yui. And you will find similarities all over.
Overall, if it wasn't for those stupid fanservice scenes, I would probably be able to watch it until the end, but I can't. I just can't.
So, if you too can't stand cliché and being bored to death while watching an anime that is trying too hard to explain how anime works, don't even start it.

Talking about Chika Umino's work is hard because her writing is something that always hits me very strongly. The way she describes mental illness, anxiety and youth problems is something absolutely touching and sometimes agonizing because, at least for me, is really relatable. Honey & Clover is my all time favorite manga, but this time, 3-gatsu animation is somehow a different kind of Chika's work. Relief happens less often and the excruciating feeling of drowning in negative feelings is more constant. Episode six was hard to watch non-stop. Maybe because now it's a story mainly about sadness, loneliness and depression. And that is actually something

impressive. Even though I don't really understand nor think about Shogi as an interesting sport/game.
Art (10/10) is my favorite part, just like in H&C. Her style is so cute <3 I love the details of the eyes, the cute animals, and now, the TALKING animals! Oh gosh, so much cuteness for my heart to handle.
Sound (8/10) is simple, yet quite pretty. I barely noticed the background soundtrack - and I always do it strictly! Guess the story steals all the atenttion from it. Also, the dubbing is awesome! The voices of the characters fit perfectly, especially the female voices - that are also very cute.
3-gatsu is about Rei's pain, most of the time, and this end up building our point of view about the rest of the story and the other characters (9/10) in a very strict way - probably because all the narration of the history until now was made by the protagonist only. But all of the characters are unique in their own way and full of characteristics that hold our affection with the passage of time. And these characteristics are so real that it's hard not to feel close to them somehow.
Story (10/10) is amazing and yet kinda hard to go along with. The pace is purposely slow - and that makes it sometimes really deep and tense. Still, that is a perfect way to demonstrate how depression works, it's a perfect way to show to the viewers how hard is to feel anguished like that, how difficult it is to have a mind so full of thoughts and fears like this. I was positively surprised by this story that deals so well on the subject of psychological illnesses in a such intense and emotional way. After being so disappointed with various Japanese anime/manga that treat mental illnesses as banal or irrelevant things, watching 3-gatsu was somehow inspiring. I saw myself in various problems that Rei had, I could feel in my skin how scary some moments he spent were. And a show that creates empathy towards this issue is fantastic and without a doubt deserves all the credits.
Probably not everyone will like or even truly understand it, but I think it was worth the time for all those who have been teenagers without friends at school, and didn't know how to express their feelings or had family problems/losses.
3-gatsu is a story about trusting others, discovering your own strength and weaknesses, about letting it go and moving on.
I'm very glad I'm having the chance to follow this series and I can bet some will like it as much as I do. And I really hoping for an emotional and very happy ending full of tears, just like Chika did in Honey & Clover.

Kuma Miko is a very cute anime. I quite enjoyed watching so far, but there are some reasons I couldn't feel but disappointment. And I'm just writing about this so people who feel the same towards the situation on this anime can already know about it.
Art is amazing, trully outstanding. High quality animation, for real. I really loved the traits, the expressions, the background scenario, everything. I didn't had anything to criticize here, also because this special way to draw characters and animals are kinda my favorite ever.

The problem begins with some parts of the story and some specific characters. And I can't talk about it without showing some minor spoilers. But don't worry, it won't exactly change anything on the plot itself. Here is where I NEED to be very straight about it. I rather be critical then fall into blind fandom.
The story is mainly around a cute young girl, named Machi, trying to go to a school in a town near her village. Ok, nothing wrong until here. But then, we have a first strange impression on the very first episode: Yoshio (the city tourist guide) starts telling a group of nine years old kids [saying they could already hear an uncensored story, wtf?] about the village and how talking bears appeared there from a bear that had sex with a... priestess? Eeeeeeerm... Starting to get bizarre, right? But yeah... I tried very hard to ignore it, but then it got worse.
After this, the plot falls often into lolicon. Blatantly. There's an unbearable number of scenes where old men in the village are seen talking openly about the beauty and the body parts of a fourteen year old girl, in a sexual and fucking disgusting way. But there were a particular scene when the protagonist's cousin (Yoshio again) falls purposely upon her half-naked body, holding her wrists tightly, forcing her to respond in a totally cringy scene why a bear could see her naked like that and he, a grown fucking man, couldn't. Needless to say, I was deeply disgusted (again) and outraged by that, because is something made to sound funny. What's funny about it, really? Made me sick... It's was sexual harassment, but made in a way to look cute and funny, and "critical" (he claims equality over seeing a child naked? Are you guys FOR REAL?). It doesn't matter if he is from the family, that just make things even worse.
Machi is a 14 year-old girl but looks confusingly younger, and again, that makes everything look worse. Also, Natsu, the bear, always have these long flashbacks with a quite gross and pedophilia-like scene. Yeah, I know, he is an animal and it's supposed to be cute and pure, but it is not.
To end with it: I made some effort to keep watching and it had it's funny momments, although I find the show decently enjoyable at best. But I definitely couldn't close my eyes to the problems I said before. Knowing how Japan handles pedophilia and lolicon, I felt sincerely uncomfortable.
I love slice of life, it's my favorite genre of all times. If Kuma Miko didn't had this problems, it would be one of my favorites for sure... Such a pity...
So, if you can't tolerate pedo jokes, child sexualization and this kind of stuff, be aware or be away.
EDIT with spoilers about the ending of the story:
It ended so much fucking worse than I thought It would. Irritating and SO frustrating. Yoshio is definetely the worse character I've ever seen, a stupid moron that places a huge burden on a little girl even though she does not want to, even if she panics and becomes traumatized. Natsu is a selfish friend that manipulates her mind until she gives up the one dream she had of being able to study in a bigger school. The poor girl had no will respected and were always discouraged until she let go of it only to fulfill other people wishes. Dis-gus-ting. This show pisses me off A LOT. I take back the "could be my favorite" part. This anime has too many flaws on the plot to be considered good or even fair.

I was waiting the whole entire series just to hear Suguru's voice ): "he doesn't speak much and has very little presence" no shit sir, he doesn't speak at all! Damn it!
Jokes aside, I loved to see this reprise of the series, which is one of my favorite slice of life of all times. The characters are still lovely and cuddly as ever! You just feel like you've reached nirvana while you watch this anime. I seriously would love to move to a small city being again just a child with a simple and fun life as theirs.
Some minimal details that I've missed in this

new season are the funny quotes like the first season and a faster pace. Not that calm stories are not as amazing as the fast ones, especially because the pace of Non Non was always quieter and lighter.
I spent a nice time watching it and I still love it as much as I had on the previous season. And I think that is actually amazing that I'm not drowning in tears for finishing watching it, like I was when I finished to watch Tamako Market or Shirokuma Cafe. But I am also happy that it had not left a hole in my chest, lol.
Non Non Biyori Repeat is one more way to spend some nice time to relax and I want to recommend it to everyone I know that likes this type of anime, because is worth it. And I'm gonna miss these times so much!

So... Nobody wrote a review for Million Doll yet? That's a huge responsibility for me, hahaha. I'm sorry, but this time I'm a bit disappointed and I don't know how to explain that well, but anyway, here we go.
I do not usually make reviews about anime that I didn't identify myself, but I made an exception this time, because... Ohhh, gosh... Such a boredom... But I struggled to keep up watching the series so far because I do not like to criticize without having access to it's entire content and, for real, Million Doll had potential to be an "all cute anime", but it's just...
...
Meeeh. If you know what I mean.
The story is about a hikikomori idol otaku, Sumire, who runs a star-making blog after having bad relations with assholes colleagues at school and kinda isolating herself from society. And she finds out that raising popularity of beginners pop-stars was really a nice hobby, so she keep doing that for a long time. Then, it starts a rivalry between her and Ryuu, which is another otaku idol but completely futile and manipulative. Sumire is trying to raise a group of singing girls and Ryuu is trying to raise a single female singer. The anime also shows the side of those singers, like their insecurities and their efforts for success.
And when you see it... The story is... Just that. Nothing else. It could be a really intense and exciting thing, but seems a bit childish for me, I don't know for sure how to classify it. There's no really big ups and downs... Just it.
Besides, the art is cool, but at the same time, they made it so bright it hurt my eyes! Why their hair have to shine so bright, man? And wow, the mix of 2D with 3D doesn't... fit. Also, the traits sometimes seem crooked and the faces of the characters look kinda... deformed! Creepy...
I don't feel like I wasted my time completely watching it just because each episode lasts less than five minutes. Perhaps this is just one more reason for the lack of development of the story, but since almost nothing was well developed, I can't do anything but complain... Even the characters had not a decent personality development!
Finally, the work is not as original nor innovative. The development of the story and characters wasn't sufficient to make me create affinity with the story. So, low connection with the audience. The art refinement was below the average. And... I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, but... Their voices are... SOO annoying...
I feel sorry for the staff that worked on that, but, really... I can't like this anime.

It has been proved by the popularity of, for example, Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), that stories that usually contain giants make a lot of success. In fact, since ancient Greece, legends of giants always caused curiosity and instant rapport. My story with Giganto Makhia started like that as well.
Kentaro Miura decided to write this one-shot during the hiatus of his best-known manga Bersek, probably to clear his mind, since Bersek is being written since 1989! The story itself mixture Greek mythology with something like a futuristic mode and post-apocalyptic - or as stated in the manga: after the Great Extinction. And if giants
...
are already successful, imagine mythological giants in a post-apocalyptic backdrop!
To explain this better before entering the manga storyline, here's a brief description: In Greek mythology, the Giants were a race of great strength and aggression - though not necessarily large - known as Gigantomachia or Giganto Makhia and their battles with the Olympian gods. According to Hesiod, the Giants were the children of Gaia (Earth), born of the blood that fell when Uranus (Heaven) was castrated by Titan son of Cronus.
The story begins with the following words:
" In the distant future, far beyond the present, when the familiar story ends ... And a myth resurfaces. A monstrous legend. And also ... Giant."
Humanity is divided and taken new forms. Then there were humans, who are known as "Hus", and a strange new species that are called "Mus", mutant creatures better adapted to live in isolated places like deserts. Some of them are human crossings ... With insects, for example. Ew, strange, I know... But Miura makes even things like that to have a specific meaning and he also make the art become strangely peculiar.
After the dramatic opening, Miura starts the story in a desert, with the two protagonists interacting suddenly. At first it seems a rather confusing approach, but it does not take long until you can feel relate to both of them and already feel a certain familiarity, even if there is not much explanation about who they are, where they came from and so on. They are Delos, a small, silly, strong, good-hearted man, and Prome, a mysterious girl with supernatural powers that does not seem to fit very well in the definitions of the existing forms of life.
One thing I think is needed to warn you at this point is that in the same way that the story doesn't contain many detailed explanations, names also do not have. So don't get too stressed with names, just keep reading that it will gradually make sense and the direction is then shown.
Continuing: The two wandered in search of a desert tribe, known as "Scraves", men who are half beetles and can control huge insects. Delos and Prome end up being found by Scraves first. Then, the pair are mistaken for spies of the human empire called Olympus and are taken captive to prove innocence through a struggle of Delos with the strongest warrior of the tribe... Prome is tied to die after the supposed defeat of Delos, however, the fight endures quite a lot: that little Hus clashes with the powerful Mus in a interestingly way of fighting, kinda unusual for manga: wrestling style.
The plot that follows from there is good enough to keep the attention at reading. Wouldn't be fun to tell all the details, mainly because it is a one-shot. So, try to give it a chance!
What I feel that is relevant to comment is: In general, the manga is very well done, well designed (Miura is mainly known for his mastery of the art of drawing), well thought out even for a one-shot, where the plot is always fast. But it was exciting to read some parts of the story like the way that Delos reacted in front of confrontational situations, making him kinda like the perfect and typical example of a true hero. Not the "perfect" hero that often is used, and that means that perfection is not always free of flaws or even aesthetic perfection. There is a logical explanation for kinda everything in the manga, including Delos's way of act, so it's nice to see that there is a deconstruction of the completely-perfect-heroism that we often see in mangas, comic books and even movies. Interestingly, Delos would be the classic Japanese hero style: strong, pure and honorable.
The development of the plot in the manga will always be surprising enough and always giving a positive and impactful shot at the reader, as is the custom of the Miura. Giganto Makhia has however a much lighter and less dense plot that Bersek and even reaches funny parts that are always given by the pair of protagonists. Still, we can not help but notice the social discussion between the lines and of course, the struggles that are at least energizing.
My criticism with the manga is that it has ecchi/loli content... Honestly...I don't like it. But... Wel... What can I do? Manga's creators can be strange people in the end anyway... Many times the key to this problem is to simply ignore. For some people this is not really important, for some this is only funny and for some this is kinda sick. It's up to you to decide.
Finally, I think it is really easy to buy and read Giganto Makhia, since it is a one-shot. I highly recommend this reading to Bersek fans, even if, somehow, the climate is quite different. Still, the influences of previous Miura's work are visible, especially in monsters in battle and the satisfaction of seeing a manga that is a pleasure to read! And it's great that he can also join many readers who have not heard of the author yet to know his amazing style and narrative feature.
My conclusion is that Giganto Makhia is really a manga who worth. The work makes you reflect on many things and has really great characters and a nice art.
So, going to rating:
Story is great, but not very my style. Still, I must admit that deserves a 9. I had a great time reading it.
Art also deserves a 9. Miura like strong traits and sometimes it get scary... I prefer lighter shades. But even being a bit "rough", I think he knows how to work. Prome were sooooo cute I couldn't resist.
Characters definitely deserve 10. I just loved the personality of Delos and I think he ended up becoming one of my favorite heros.
Had a nice enjoyment, but again, it was a bit scary and I like cuter things when reading manga. So, 9.
Overall, couldn't give nothing but Great! (:

Ronja is really a very cute series! I had the highest expectations about it because it was the first animated series made by Studio Ghibli, even knowing that was used digital resources on it.
To begin with it, the story is based on the book written by a swedish writer named Astrid Lindgren, and tells us the tale of Ronja, daughter of Mattis (a bandit leader) and Lovis, his wife. She lives at the Mattis's Fortress (originally Mattisborgen), which consists on a abandoned castle, split in half by a thunderbolt that struck it on the day Ronja was born. After the storm, the rival bandit clan,
...
Borka's Thieves, takes half of the fortress. Some time later, Ronja meets Birk, Borka's son, and they become friends, even against their fathers will. When the clash between the clans gets worse, Ronja and Birk decide to leave the fortress, starting to live together within a cave hidden in the forest.
Mattis's desire to retrieve his little girl makes him ask for a truce with Borka, reducing the rivalry between the clans a little bit. The book consists on a parable about affection and conflicts at childhood between father and daughter, the discovery of love and independence, the wisdom of a life side by side with the nature and tolerance, at a broad sense. It was translated to a bunch of different languages, and it is an international success.
You can notice that the art is a bit different than Hayao's designs, because Goro decided to bet on digital resources (while Hayao preferred to draw all Ponyo's scenaries by hand, for example) on his animations. But that's not a real problem, considerating that he was the director of Tales from Earthsea or Kokurikozaka kara, that we all know how awesome it was.
The synopsis of the animations seems a little more fanciful than the book's, but the essence is the same: Ronja is the only and loved daughter of Mattis, who's a good hearted leader of a colorful and funny group of bandits, that lives on a huge castle at the forest. Ronja was born while a storm was raging, but her personality is cheerful and loving. And much like her father, she has a good heart, but at the same time, is a reckless girl. She starts to study the misterious creatures that live at the forest, meeting other children and then, starts to question her father's behavior.
Polygon Pictures is a 3D CG partner of Studio Ghibli on the series. It will be the first time that Goro Miyazaki will be running an animated series for television. Satoshi Takebe (from "From Up on Poppy Hill") will be the responsible for Ronja's soundtrack. And that's fabulous, I love him!
Sanzoku no Musume Ronja or "Ronja - Daughter of the Thief (or Robber)" have a captivating cast and a promising story.
To me it looks so awesome as any other story coming from Studio Ghibli, and I was waiting for months until the series went out. And, if you want to know, I really loved the first five episodes. The story follows the original plot, the characters are incredibly sympathetic, the music is nice and the scenarios are gorgeous. The harpies from story are scary and the interpretation of the "wolf song" was great. I'm not the kind of people who dislikes 3D animation, although I saw some people complaining about it. Probably because I sincerely trust the Studio, and I will for sure keep watching this series!
Futhermore, Ronja and Birk are also cute together... Even giving me agony for being too naive or jumping off cliffs as if they were jumping out of bed.

Its funny, but sometimes it becomes a little... Weird. Especially Mattis. But Ronja's momma always save it.

I think it's really cool, like I said before. When you get used with the 3D effect, you will find it awesome too.

The songs are beautiful and clean. Even as a musician, I really have nothing to complain about.

They are nice, even if sometimes the adults look a little childish and the kids too adult.

It's a funny and loving story. It seems to get better and better. I hope it continues this way.
