Fundamentalismus Christianus, etiam Christianitas fundamentalistica et plerumque in Civitatibus Foederatis simpliciter fundamentalismus appellatus,[1] est motus religiosus saeculis undevicensimo exeunte vicensimoque ineunte intra Britannicam et Americanam sectas Protestantes ortus, generatim inter evangelicalistas qui se adversus modernismum theologicam et culturalem acriter gerebant.[2] Fundamentalistae arguerunt modernistos saeculi undevicensimi theologos male interpretatos fuisse vel certas reiecisse doctrinas, praecipue inerrantiam biblicam, quae evangelicales fundamentalia putabant fidei Christianae.[3] Nonnulli eruditi quosdam Catholicos habent fundamentalistas qui theologiam hodiernam pro prioribus doctrinis reiciunt.[4] Eruditi autem inter se disputant quantum vocabula evangelicalem et fundamentalistam sint synonyma.

Fundamentalismus, motus socialis in variis confessionibus fidei variisque theologis patefactus, potius quam singula secta vel theologia systematica, decennio 192 ortus est, postquam Fundamentalia prolata erant, commentarii voluminibus decem editi, defensionem et disputationem adferentes, a theologis conservativis Protestantibus ad defendendas res quas orthodoxiam Protestantem considerabant. Motus temperatior decennio 193 intra ecclesias protestantes Americanas factus est, praecipue inter Baptistas et Presbyterianas. Multae harum ecclesiarum modum pugnandi asciverunt qui theologiam Princetonianam cum Dispensationalismo miscuit.[2] Post 1930, multae ecclesiae fundamentalisticae in America Septentrionali et deinde per orbem terrarum repraesentabantur a Liberis Americae Ecclesiis Fundamentalibus (Liberis Americae Ecclesiis Fundamentalibus Internationalibus anno 1996 nominatis), quae inerrantiae biblicae, virginales Iesu natales, piaculo substitutionario, resurrectioni Christi ad verbum, secundo Christi adventui, et aliis doctrinis adhaerent.
