Shaffer, Gordon

 

Born Oct. 1, 1905. Public and political figure of Great Britain. A journalist by profession.

From 1937 to 1953, Shaffer contributed to the newspaper Reynold’s News. He then became an editor of the Journalist, a magazine published by the National League of Journalists. Until 1972 he was president of the British Committee for the Defense of Peace, and in 1971 he became president of the British Committee for European Security and Cooperation. In 1972, Shaffer became the vice-president of the National Peace Council. He is a member of the World Peace Council.

In 1964, Shaffer received the International Lenin Prize for Strengthening Peace Among Nations.
