Ivy Bridge

The 3rd-generation microarchitecture in Intel's Core family of CPU chips, introduced in 2012. Ivy Bridge reduced element size to 22 nm and improved the GPU on the chip, including support for 4K resolution. In addition, there was a major change in transistor design (see Tri-Gate transistor).
