uncontrolled airports?

[edit]

O'Hare has a UNICOM frequency...was it originally only for uncontrolled airports or is this a clerical mistake?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mercer5089 (talkcontribs) .

Controlled airports such as O'Hare may have a UNICOM frequecy, although I am not sure of its use. The Airman's Information Manual states in Table 4-1-2 "Airports with a control tower or FSS on airport" use 122.950MHz for UNICOM.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.158.3.101 (talkcontribs) .

Yes, KORD (O'hare) has a UNICOM frequency, as do most major airports that have FBOs (Fixed Base Operators). The UNICOM frequency is used to communicate for communication between aircraft and FBO personnel for such things as fueling and maintenance.72.174.99.21 03:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
