origins as proof of concept

[edit]

i dont think the concept was to replace TeachText but rather the Borland Think Pascal editor, which Rich Siegel was working on at the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A plague of rainbows (talkcontribs) 21:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted marketing slogan

[edit]

I deleted this sentence that was in the first paragraph:

BBEdit is marketed under the trademark slogan, "It doesn't suck."

Why should an encyclopedia care what a product's marketing slogans are? It makes the whole thing feel like an advertisement. Unless it's an article about marketing, or a product that might not be recognized without a famous slogan... but neither of those appears to be the case here.

While I get this argument, I think "it makes the whole thing feel like an advertisement" is, well, a bit of an overstatement. I'm not sure that including some reference to their rather whimsical marketing slogan -- which has been part of their brand identity for at least two decades -- should be forbidden. I mean, maybe we can stick it in a sidebar box or something. ChipotleCoyote (talk) 18:48, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Carbon vs. Cocoa?

[edit]

The article's infobox notes that BBEdit is written in Carbon, but BBEdit 12's release notes say "BBEdit is now built as a 64-bit application," and there is rather (in)famously no 64-bit version of Carbon -- according to Wikipedia's own article on Carbon, the API isn't even supported in macOS Catalina and above. Unless there are objections I'm going to remove that note. ChipotleCoyote (talk) 18:48, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures in infobox

[edit]

The app icon and screenshot that are shown in the infobox are quite outdated? Could someone please update them? 178.83.233.148 (talk) 14:26, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Free marketing?

[edit]

Does the inclusion of this really serve as free marketing? I've seen larger companies removed from Wikipedia due to this violation. Bfrasure (talkcontribs) 22:03, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
