🌟 Exciting Days at SRH Hamburg! 🌟 I had the incredible opportunity to co-teach an intensive 3-day course on #OperationsResearch at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg alongside Professor Nnamdi Oguji (PhD) 📚🔍 Despite the nonobligatory nature of the course, we were thrilled to see a fantastic turnout of enthusiastic students! 🙌 We delved into a wide range of topics, including: ✅ Mathematical Modelling: Unleashing the power of equations to solve real-world problems. ✅ Linear Programming: Optimizing resources efficiently—because who doesn’t love a good optimization challenge? 💡 ✅ Branch and Bound: Navigating complex decision trees with precision. ✅ Graph Theory: Unraveling the mysteries of networks and connections. ✅ Graph Algorithms: From traversals to shortest paths, we covered it all! ✅ Supply Chain Optimization: Ensuring smooth logistics and efficient flows. ✅ Python Programming: Because every OR wizard needs a trusty coding wand! 🐍 Thank you to all the students who participated—you made these days truly memorable! Creativity is one of the core elements of our CORE concept at SRH Campus Hamburg . In Reaserch Methods module at International Business and Leadership (IBL) Study program, in order to engage our master students and enhance their understanding of experimental design, I used Spaghetti Challenge, a hands-on activity where students teams built the tallest possible structure. Students formed groups with varied compositions—such as randomly assigned, self-selected, or skill-based teams—and measured the height of their structures to evaluate productivity. By analyzing the outcomes, students gain insights into how team dynamics and design influence performance. This experiential learning activity not only promotes creativity but also provides practical experience in conducting research, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions about team effectiveness. Many thanks to our wonderful students for their high motivation and contribution to the CORE concept at our university.

🚀 Just wrapped up an incredible Amazon fulfillment tour on July 3rd! Our first-semester Supply Chain students got an up-close look at how Amazon implements Strategic Logistics Management concepts in their German warehouses. A big thank you to Katja for the insightful and informative tour! One of the standout features was the dedicated Problem Station, where parcels with issues like billing or damage are handled efficiently. We were thrilled to see classroom concepts in action, from the modern use of AGVs and efficient warehouse space utilization to the extensive use of Modern Kanbans for product allocation. A huge shoutout to Sahen Peer, M.Sc. Supply Chain Management student, for summing it up perfectly: "Overall, it was a great learning curve for all of us at the Amazon Fulfillment Center." . . . 🚀 Letzte Woche fand eine unglaublich tolle Amazon Fulfillment-Tour statt! Unsere Erstsemester-Studierenden des Supply Chain Managements erhielten einen hautnahen Einblick, wie Amazon Konzepte des Strategischen Logistikmanagements in ihren deutschen Lagern umsetzt. Ein großes Dankeschön an Katja für die aufschlussreiche und informative Tour! Eine der herausragenden Merkmale war die spezielle Problemstation, wo Pakete mit Problemen wie Abrechnung oder Beschädigungen effizient bearbeitet werden. Wir waren begeistert, die im Unterricht behandelten Konzepte in der Praxis zu sehen, von der modernen Nutzung von FTS und der effizienten Lagerraumnutzung bis hin zur umfangreichen Verwendung von modernen Kanban-Systemen für die Produktzuordnung. 🌟 Exploring the Future of Medical Technology: Our Tour at Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe 🌟 Our students at SRH Campus Hamburg always seek opportunities to dive deep into industry practices, and we were thrilled to facilitate an exclusive tour for them this summer semester. A select group of students had the privilege of visiting the cutting-edge production facility of Olympus Medical Systems EMEA in Jenfeld, Hamburg. 🔬 Behind the Scenes at Olympus Medical Systems 🔬 Olympus Medical Systems is renowned for developing and designing world-leading, clinically-advanced, precision technologies and services. Our tour began with an engaging introduction to the rich history of Olympus Medical Systems, setting the stage for what was to come. 👨🔬 Guided by Expertise 👨🔬 We were guided by Kevin Schulz, Senior R&D Engineer, EMEA, who led us through the state-of-the-art departments. Olympus is a global leader in producing medical systems aimed at early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment, including endoscopy, hand instruments, implants, and surgical supplies. 🏭 In-Depth Exploration 🏭 Over two hours, our students explored various departments such as CNC, rigid endoscope manufacturing, mechanical instruments, and video endoscopes. 🌟 Exciting Guest Lecture Recap 🌟 Two weeks ago, our SRH Campus in Hamburg had the privilege of hosting Michael Stietz from Körber Technologies for an engaging hybrid guest lecture! 🎓💼 Michael delved into the intricacies of Strategy development and deployment with our Supply Chain Master Class, shedding light on the evolution from Procurement to Supply Chain and ultimately Operations. 💡 Here's what some of our students had to say: 🗣️ Shaheen Peer (1st semester): "My colleagues and I greatly appreciate the time taken by our guest lecturer Michael to visit and share valuable insights about the Körber company.
