The Best Workplaces™ in Hospitality 2024 have been revealed. This industry is integral to Ireland's economy and social fabric, serving as a major driver of economic growth and employment, with over 250,000 people employed in the sector nationwide. Its contributions extend beyond economic metrics; the hospitality industry fosters cultural exchange, supports local businesses, and strengthens community ties. We are proud to celebrate the 51 hotels on this year's list, which not only lead in providing top-tier guest services but also create environments that empower, inspire, and nurture the people driving the industry's success.

Prioritising employee needs

In its first year, the Best Workplaces™ in Hospitality is an industry recognition compiled by Great Place to Work Ireland to recognise the top hotels who are paving the way for greatness in the hospitality industry. With nearly 40,000 employees in the hotel industry invited to be surveyed in the last couple of years, Great Place to Work were able to investigate and understand the employee experience within these workplaces – 51 organisations were then acknowledged as the best in the sector.

Great Place to Work are delighted to shine a vital spotlight on the sector, showcasing it as an outstanding field for career growth and innovation. By earning recognition as a Best Workplace in Hospitality, these hotels not only boost their reputation as a leading workplace in this space, but also positions the entire hospitality sector as highly competitive in attracting top talent. This emphasis on excellence helps draw skilled professionals seeking rewarding careers, in turn enhancing the sector’s overall appeal and capacity for sustained success.

Due to the industry’s inherently people-centric nature, prioritising employee needs is paramount; when the quality of service is directly influenced by the attitudes and wellbeing of staff, ensuring that employees feel valued, supported, and motivated is crucial. In a sector known for its high turnover rates, prioritising employee needs helps attract and retain top talent, reducing recruitment and training costs. By investing in their workforce through continuous professional development, fair compensation, and a positive work environment, the Best Workplaces in Hospitality have built resilient, dedicated teams, essential for sustaining long-term success and competitiveness.

This recognition uses the global standard Best Workplaces methodology as its basis. To be considered for this recognition, participating organisations are required to be Certified™ as a Great Place to Work first and be in the hotel sector.

"At Great Place to Work we understand how important a high trust workplace culture is for any organisation to thrive,” said Cathal Divilly, Great Place to Work Ireland CEO. “Through our partnership with Fáilte Ireland, we have been delighted to survey thousands of employees in the tourism and hospitality sector to truly understand the needs of employees within this industry, which we know can be fast-paced and unpredictable at times. These organisations recognised as the Best Workplaces in Hospitality 2024 understand that prioritising employees should be at the heart of everything they do. Their dedication to fostering an environment of trust and excellence is truly admirable, and sets an impressive precedent for others in the industry to follow."
