the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

paid steam game. Round was finished, and the game went black screen, my friends were already playing after loading, i alt-f4d, now game doesn't start.

Not a problem with the game. I stupidly tried reinstalling, but it obviously didn't work, i tried starting up another EA game and it didn't start with same error different id. 

What i did:
Hard deletion of EA desktop like 5 times (programdata, registry, appdata, etc)

Deleted most of steam stuff too, except what is in the steam folder itself. I am scared of ruining my setup. 

C++ reinstall

PC reboot 4 times

EAC reinstall\repair

Gave admin rights to everything

APP recovery EA desktop, doesn't work, 

ea app install directly from steam, eaupdate

i also did a lot of other irrelevant things. 

My understanding is that steam tries to open ea desktop to start the game and it can't find that link. Starting up through EA desktop itself doesn't help either, same thing, since it goes to steam first. 

Second launcher * is getting tiring. I had troubles with bioshock, ac2, i think with max payne 3. Now this. 

I am out of ideas.

Ok, i thought i would search for

and maybe i missed something, i copypasted it into browser and game starts just fine. Through steam it doesn't. Hopefully there is a solution for this.

I uninstalled ea desktop and reinstalled it.
Closed down steam, try to start bf2042 again and that worked

Also checked the game files with steam for bf2042, which had 3 files missing.

I un-installed the app then re-installed after restarting PC. Game opens properly now thanks.
