Crashes to Desktop Randomly

★★★ Newbie

Game crashes to desktop randomly with no error message Most of the time it crashes before it goes full screen. Sometimes it crashes at the main menu screen. Sometimes it crashes while a server is loading or during the first game or after the first game. Never make it to a second game. Been playing this game since launch and this started a couple weeks ago.

I've tried reinstalling EA App, clearing cache. Tried reinstalling 2042 multiple times. Updated Windows, Bios, Drivers. Reinstalled Windows. Tried disabling Control flow guard for the game as somebody suggested elsewhere. It's the only game that crashes.

I do get a Crash Dump file every time and it's always the same. It says:

@CHUCK_LEN0RRIS

With the troubleshooting you have already performed, there may be a hardware issue.

If you are comfortable with it, you might reseat your RAM sticks in their slots.

Before that though, try these steps, thanks.

@EA_Barry

I have also replaced my motherboard and RAM since this started. Memtest86 Passes. I still get crashes with XMP on or off. Also tried reducing RAM speeds slightly. Still crashes.

Did the clean boot and ran SFC. It did repair a Framework file. But still getting crashes after that. And yes my display is connected to my GPU.

Funny thing is that it will crash before getting to the main menu. But if I swap that "oo2core_8_win64.dll" file(mentioned in the crash dump) with one from another game, it will make it to the main menu and stay for a minute or two. Then it will close with a EasyAnticheat error 115(understandably). But then when I put the original file back, it crashes immediately again. I tried this multiple times to the same result.

Have deleted that file and let the EA app repair it multiple times as well. As well as deleting and reinstalling the game on different drives.
