I can’t gift in apex even tho I have login verification enabled

Tried all this with no positive  results. Time is running out on this event and would love a solution of some kind asap. All I've been told is keep looking at the ea support page for an update. More than a little upset. Been playing this game since 2019 and the email verification still doesn't work. On ps4

Login verification is on. In game not matter how many times I resart it still says gifting is locked and I need to turn on login verification. I have confirmed several times it is on. Really trying to complete this event but im unable to because I cannot gift. Any help would be appreciated.

turned on verification tonight

cant show screenshots right now, but gifting is locked still, and verification is turned on.

noteworthy that my ea account is still linked to an old PlayStation account I had on my ps4. When I load up apex on that account it is level 1 now, but my ea account still says it’s linked to the old account. When I try to login with my new email and account info, it still takes me to the same ea account page that is linked to the old account. No matter which email/password I use, both bring me to the same ea account that’s linked to the old ps4. If I try to unlink, I risk losing all my progress on my new account.
