Of the two currency zones, the Central Africa franc used in the Central African Economic And Monetary Community (CEMAC) is under more pressure than in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

Morocco's bank supervisors recently established a working relationship with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).

In addition to the countries making up the UEMOA, Standard Bank also plans to expand its focus to include the six nations that comprise the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), which include Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

He announced, in this regard, that Tunisia is preparing to sign shortly a trade, investment and technical co-operation agreement with the West-African Economic and Monetary Union, and plans to speed up the pace of negotiations to help Tunisia integrate Eastern and Southern Africa's common market (COMESA) and to conclude a preferential agreement with Central African Economic and Monetary Community.

Negotiations are conducted by the CAEMC Secretariat (Central African Economic and Monetary Community) and the European Commission.

France has signed agreements concerning the exchange rates with the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) as well as with the Comores.
