Resourceful Protagonist is a mod all about being smart and thinking before acting, you play as a regular citizen in a non-named city under combine control. However things are about to take a turn for the worse and you have to get out of dodge.

II. Information:

You play as a man that woke up just like any other day but this time it is during a uprising that is going downhill for the rebels as well as the combine.You travel from your humble abode in the sewers to a city suffering from the aftermath that is the failed uprising as well as a desolate forest.

III. Trivial information:

The mod is based on that the player should analyze the situation before doing anything, this way of playing is the most optimal way and is the foundation for the mod. Exploration is rewarded at around 75% of the time, most of the time it will pay off to go out of your way to look in a segregated areas however in other times you will face a challenge that is not worth it.

VI. The Changelog:

  • 16 Januari 2014:

    Work was discontinued during Christmas but now we are back to keep at it yet again and since we are soon finished the wait should not be long however a date will not be announced yet!

  • 2nd of October 2013:

Today (technically yesterday) was the first mayor change in plans for the mod "Resourceful Protagonist". I had decided that the third part of the mod needed to be split up in two parts to make the transition effect get improved as well as making sure that the idea behind the exit of the un-named city would be as cool as possible without having to worry about optimization issues and such with a massive landscape.

I've tried the patch release and I like that you've extended the 3rd map. I still find the mod to be a bit too easy though. Maybe you could decrease the number of ammo and supply caches you find so the player has to think about conservation of health and ammo? That would put more emphasis on exploration. And that in turn would put more emphasis on whether a player would want to risk encountering a hazard.

Did you play on hard? I found that is a nice equalizer for now, however I am in the works of decreasing the amount of ammunition and health :)

I read your review and I agree more maps would be cool however because of time constraints I was unable to produce more then the 4 in the mod already, however I am planning on patching the third part as you mentioned it was a dip in length and I will fix that in an upcoming patch to increase the length of that part.

As for the day and night cycle, you start of in an early stage of night and move into 00:00, If I make a continuation to this mod it will be during the day seeing as how that would be a natural progression!

The 2nd map is very hard to work with now but I will consider more combine situations :)

will... great job! keep going.but i like mods witch like smod its no new maps but new weapons and can hit with a leg its cool. because its the real valve's story.... ihope your mod is better :)

Separate version will go trough Half Life 2 EP2 :) smaller download with only .bsp files but I will look into more Linux support then just a separate version!
