Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game and one of the first mods for this game. i have downloaded the mod and have removed the file that it needs me to so i can play base game for the directx 8.1. after downloading mod it asks me to install. any ideas? ... forgot to sign in
The mod does not require anything more than the base game does. Something must have went wrong on your end. Make sure the vanilla game works again before launching the mod.

Do you need to install patch 1 before patch 2? Or can you just install Patch 2 and it contains everything?
You need 009 Final and Patch 1 installed beforehand, as the instructions state.
is there anyway to remove general promotion thing. its anoying that you have to get 3 promotion to build literally anything
There is but I would strongly not recommend it as the enemy AI will also benefit from the same cheat.
This is how the game is designed and it's not just Contra, the vanilla Zero Hour game has that too.

Look on your rank INI file and tweak it a little bit.

I don't know where you read that but no, Contra is not really compatible with other mods, at least not with SWR-made mods that is.
Contra is compatible with some mods in a sense that you can have multiple mods installed in the same game folder and play any of them without having to uninstall one mod if you want to play another one. Such mods are those with launchers.
No mod is compatible with another in the sense of having multiple mods installed and having units from multiple mods available.
game crash when play againts more than 4 enemies...someone please help
Avoid playing against more than one or two AI players in skirmish battles. The more AI players are involved, the more likely your game will crash.
That's unfortunately not something we can fix so this is the only solution I can propose you.
when i play my screen went black only a part of my territory and my team can't be seen any help?
Disable heat effects and try again.
