Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago Valerie, a brash newspaper reporter, offered him an incredible sum of cash to sail her to this unspoiled paradise; but shortly after docking he was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming over the island. A truly legendary game for it's time.
There's something great about FarCry, and I come back to it over and over. Could be years, but I never forget this one. The only game that turned me from a bystander to active participant.
Overall 10/10. That's not saying it is perfect, but it's truly great!

a great game with such good memories. as a 10 year old kid this was my entry into horror in video games, and i was scared so many times by trigens jumping at me. coming back exactly 14 years later to the not so well made ps3 remaster version still feels so good to play this thing again. if only far cry went on like this later. also great modding capabilities!
-FarCry is a great open world FPS.
-Good characters, and good story.
-Good gameplay.
Stealth is good when it works. But it seems to be more helpful to the enemies rather than to the player since their sight and aim are amazing. They can see you from great distances even when you're prone. And its hard to see them even when they are running around exposed.
And they outnumber you by a lot; when you think you cleared them out more pop out.
You can throw rock to distract them. Its good when it works.
-You can drive 4X4s and boats, even hang gliders. And use the guns mounted on them.
-You can carry 4 weapons at once. And there are different weapons to choose from. Although the variety isn’t that great.
You can carry a variety of grenades, including gas bombs.
-Would be nice if the game allowed you to carry atleast one health pack with you.
-Sprint doesn’t help much. You cant sprint for long and you cant sprint fast.
-No manual save only auto save, which is good for a challenge. You are able to reload any save file since they each get their own slot.
Unfortunately the game doesn’t always save at the time you want it to.
Overall a great game.

Far Cry is a fun game. The Jungle combat is difficult and engaging, the AI challenging, and the environment spectacular. Jungle combat and stealth elements get 10/10. That's about all I liked about it.
The game is atrociously difficult, I will not lie. That is one good thing about it, but the fact that I HAD to use hacks just to finish the campaign is telling. I could not take it anymore. It is sadistic.
In terms of game-play, fighting in the jungles against humans was fun, fighting in labs and bunkers against mutants ("trijans") was not... I just did not enjoy it. Like Crysis was ruined by the Aliens, Far Cry was ruined by the mutants.
Otherwise the game is pretty fine. It is fun, but painfully difficult. It is good halfway through the story. The environment is excellent. Not much else to say. 7/10, fun but not uber great.
Nice gamplay, but the story... i felt it empty...
While this game is punishingly difficult and at times, it feels as if the AI is using a wall-hack considering how easy it is for them to spot and shoot you, Far Cry is a breathe of fresh air for the modern-warfare age, opting out for lush non-linear jungles instead of dusty streets.
It's tough, violent and quite long, but it's pacing is fantastic and it's a thrilling adventure from start to finish. :)
