1. Introduction

Dungeon Lords is an action-driven RPG (Role-playing game) set in a fantasy
setting where YOU become the hero in a fantastic adventure story. The great
wizard Galdryn of the Meadows has been slain by a deadly conspiracy within the
Circle of Mages and his chief ally, Lord Davenmor, now struggles to save his
kingdom from a marauding army. Lord Davenmor has promised his daughter
Ellowyn's hand in marriage to the evil Lord Barrowgrim to quell the invasion,
but her heart belongs to another and after learning of her father's pledge she
has vanished. Sensing treachery, Lord Barrowgrim has sent his army once to
destroy Lord Davenmor and raze the kingdom. You enter the story outside of
Davenmor's stronghold of Fargrove, where you receive a mysterious summons...
To Play the Game:
1) Launch the Dungeon Lords shortcut.
2) From the Main Menu select Single Player.
3) Select Create New Character
4) Decide your Race and class, and allocate your ADV points as you want. Click
on Play this Character when done.
5) Watch the narrative intro video for some background info if you wish, and
start playing.
You can also adjust various settings like controls, video settings, and
game options of the Main Menu under the Options selection.

3. DirectX 9 and Drivers

Dungeon Lords has been tested with a variety of video
and sound cards. Please ensure all drivers are up to date for the
system hardware, especially for video cards.
Please note that the game doesnot curently work with the Intel Extreme Graphics
chipset - this chipset does not support Hardware Transform and lighting.

Dungeon Lords requires DirectX 9.0c. If your system does not meet this
requirement, DirectX 9.0c will be automatically installed during the Dungeon
Lords installation. However, if problems are encountered with DirectX you may
wish to obtain the latest version directly from Microsoft:

4. Performance and Configuring
====================================================================
Dungeon Lords requires both good CPU and Graphics
processing power for an optimum playing experience. If you find your
framerate to be too low, please adjust your video settings under the
Options Menu.
For multiplayer gaming please be aware that the speed of the system hosting the
game will affect the gameplay experience.
Also for multiplayer play on the Internet behind a firewall and/or proxy
server please make sure to have the required port open to connect.
Dungeon Lords by default uses port 2606 (UDP). Dungeon Lords will not connect
without an open port.
Note GameSpy Arcade utilizes additional ports. A list of those ports and

This version requires updating from version 1.3.
Version 1.4 Update (available at retail box and downloadable)
- Monsters no longer get stuck in the wall/floor.
- Fixed: Spawnings at gates getting trapped in wall in Demon Realm.
- Fixed: Monsters no longer spawn in some floors (Celestial Towers, Arindale buildings).
- Fixed: Thrall guards no longer get stuck in Forbidden Gates.
- Game Settings & Keyboard Controls fixed.
- Players must now meet stats requirements to gain specialty class advancements.
- Completed quests no longer remain in quest log finished.
- Mage Aleister - Deliver Aleister's letter to Lord Davenmore.
- Vartugg: Travel to the Temple of the Naga in the Forbidden Lands.
- Staroxia: Journey to the Isle of the Damned in the Wea of Woe.
- Players can now re-enter the Shadow Ruins if exiting before completing the quest and not obtaining the Rod of Divinity.
- Character customization enabled.
- Valkyra - Valkyra arrives more quickly when summoned, eliminating problems related to delays causing her not to visit the altar.
- Weapons that must be charged can now be charged at the shrines.
- Various potion and rune buff effects corrected.
- Shield of Retribution - reflected spells now cause proper damage (e.g. Ice Bolt reflected from a Succubus will now freeze or do damage to the monster).
- Multiplayer will now operate more smoothly with 2-4 players over slower connections.
**IMPORTANT NOTE on TASK SWITCHING**
Dungeon Lords does not currently support multitasking when run as a full-screen
application. If you use the Alt-Tab key combination to minimize the game
you will need to close it from the Task Manager and will lose any progress
since your last save.
You can play Dungeon Lords in a window by running the executable using the
command line parameter "dlords -gdi". Playing in this mode will allow you to
switch between applications, however mouselook will no longer work.
- Multiplayer games have been designed so that they can be resumed using fewer
characters than were originally present when the game was saved. However,
resuming without a character in possession of quest items may cause
progression issues.

The default volumes for the different sounds in the game should be as
follows: Sound Effects=28; Music=80; Ambient=28; Speech=100
Page 14 - The Game Screen
A line is missing from the end of this section indicating that the game
compass can be seen at the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Page 25 - Camping
Some hearths are lit in-game but the actual fire does not appear. This does
not affect whether a player can actually camp there or not.
Page 32 - Hosting/Joining An Internet Game
Selecting Multiplayer from the main menu, leads you to a new menu - LAN or
Internet. Selecting the Internet option allows you to pick Direct IP (connect
directly to an IP address) or Gamespy, which uses the Gamespy service to find
and connect to other players.

To uninstall Dungeon Lords:
Browse to the Dungeon Lords folder on your Start Menu, then select "Uninstall."
Alternatively, you can open your Control Panel, choose "Add/Remove Programs,"
