Defence of the Ancients pits two teams of five players against each other in highly competitive, 40-minute or longer matches. Each player controls a single hero who levels up and stockpiles gold to purchase powerful equipment and consumables. As computer-controlled armies continually spawn and rush the enemy's base, players are responsible for using their powerful heroes to turn the tide of the battle in their favor.

Hon is pretty much exactly like Dota same hero's also your a bit late making a commercial dota since Hon might be able to take legal action against you since they actually have a commercial product which they own..

I love how you keep bitching about this game. Also, how can HoN take legal action against them for making a DoTA game??? Just because they already have a commercial game...that makes no sense. DoTA is more of a genre. With that logic you're saying that like call of duty could take legal action against other shooter games because call of duty is a commercial game. Also it's called DOTA 2 because it's the sequel to DOTA. Defense of The Ancients 2 and it's Heroes of Newerth not Heroes of Newearth.

They didn't need to put in any effort into the name, having DOTA 2 as the title will sell more copies than if they came up with an original title.

Dota isn't owned by blizzard. Dota 2 is being made by the same person who made the first Dota map on Warcraft 3.
Why do you think HoN and LoL didn't use the word "Dota"? Because they wanted to make their own games. They didn't want to make a Dota sequel, they wanted a stand-alone game. And plus, Valve already owned "Dota 2" when LoL and HoN started development.
Nobody is going to sue. You probably have no idea how the government even works if you think that.

The owner of Dota sold the maps code to that guy, and the original owner of Dota got the idea from starcraft map

dota takes strategy,miner has never played anything close to dota it seems, and there's nothing wrong with Valve making a game that will be successful or help showcase a new style of game play. Whats wrong with improving a proven concept?
I think this is somewhat smart for Valve. This gamemode is familiar with a large amount of people and this shows that the Source engine is capable of other types of games than FPS
@_Wolf_ : i HAVE played DotA. i didn't say it's crap but it isn't strategy. strategy is company of heroes, age of empires series, total war series (not fully strategy, i know), C&C series, stronghold series, etc.
and what strategy involved when you're back from the dead all over again and doing the same damn stuff. (e.g: bashing pixels).
i think it's more like action. run and bash, slash and boom. maybe valve's going to change my opinion about it once it released.
and YES! i never said valve shouldn't improve the game. can YOU tell me the aspect of strategy involved in DotA?

that’s all it is it’s a great map which people loved to play turning it into its own game is definitely a big risk but multiple smallish indie developer game designers have already done so, And it’s not really improving on anything its mainly just dota with copied of the old dota
For starters they named it dota 2 which really makes me believe this is some type of joke. I’m sure valve can pay someone to figure out a better name then dota 2, And the heroes :/ they are just the EXACT damn same war craft 3 map heroes no thought has gone into the game what so ever.
to even say this game will be successful is stupid in itself how can it possibly be successful when there is so many imitators which can think of a name other then Dota 2 and their own Hero's :/

Your logic is hilarious. I'm not disagreeing with the fact that its interesting (stupid?) for valve to remake a game that is already a very succesful map. But to say that dota can't be improved on is a bit strange. everything can always be improved, and that doesn't make everything crap. I hope Valve make something brilliant out of this, even if it is similar to the original DOTA. They will hopefully be able to broaden the game play, and bring it to a wider audience.
