Battlefield 4 Doesn't connect to Origin

★ Novice

Hi,

Since the new patch for Battlefield 4, I've been unable to play... I keep receiving something 'Start and Log in to Origin', which I am because otherwise I wouldn't be able to freaking start the game anyway. From what I can tell, the Origin Platform and the Battlelog for BF4 do not connect..

I've attempted to follow the steps, but on Step Two, "Check your Advanced settings in your Origin client and make sure you have not disabled ”Origin Helper” (Only applicable to Origin 9.7 or earlier)" I just... can't find that setting. However I have a later version of Origin, and I still find nothing similar to what this 'Origin Helper'.

If I turn off the Plugin-free launcher, it throws me back to the whole Origin 'Start and Log in'

Switching Web-Browsers has done nothing either.

I've attempted the fix proposed in the BF 4 Forum but that didn't work.

For some reason, the Browser cannot connect to Origin.

Anyone had this issue before and fixed it?

Hero

I'm not sure what the problem is from your description? Can you tell step by step what you do when you play and what it exactly is telling you when it goes wrong?

What steps from where are you following to solve it? There's many guides and posts out there, you have to be specific if we are to know what you have tried.

Lastly, as mentioned in the sticky about the new patch, try the following:

[PC]

  • Run Origin As Administrator
    runasadministrator.jpg
  • Add Origin.exe and BF4.exe to the whitelist in firewall, antivirus or similar again.

Let's say I attempt to join a game in Battlefield 4

I just go to Multiplayer and then Server browsers. I can see the servers just fine (But can't see the ping?)

Once I click on one that strikes my fancy, a Pop Up for Joining Server.

This Pop Up asks me to Start Origin and to Log In.. Which I am.

It shows me these;

1) Origin Not Installed?    (I already have it installed)

2) Check your Advanced settings in your Origin client and make sure you have not disabled ”Origin Helper” (Only applicable to Origin 9.7 or earlier)

(I can't even find this option within my Origin Client, which makes me wonder if this is the problem)

3) Still here? Then try switching off plugin-free game launching in profile settings.    (I did, changed nothing.)

4) As a last resort switch to another browser and retry.  (Also tried, changed nothing.)

Origin is working on my end,

I've tried from this Forum Post, which you made Carbonic  but it didnt work

Went to the Battlelog forum tried this  But didn't work.

Tried also to Reinstall the Web Plugin, to no avail.

Just tried to start BF4 Multiplayer via the website again... Just worked out of the blue, didn't do anything you mentioned Carbonic. Any clue to what might of happened?

Make Internet Explorer your default browser.

I previously had Chrome  as default and was having the same issues as those above.

Once I switched to IE  I was able to join BF4 with no problems.

If you are unsure how to do this

1 click Start

2 in the search bar  type  "DEFAULT PROGRAMS" and click the result

3 click "set your default programs"

4 select Internet explorer

5 Set as default program

6 close your browsers and Origin

7 restart Origin and the game will launch through IE

Hope this helps and good luck
