A mod for Stardew Valley featuring Baldur's Gate 3 characters generated a lot of interest, but some fans seem to have exaggerated their excitement.

Crossovers between well-known brands always evoke emotions. At times, even too big, as the creators of the modification that transferred the characters from Baldur's Gate 3 to Stardew Valley found out, which threatened account bans for "attacks on the team."

More Baldur in Stardew Valley

Three modders are working on Baldur’s Village, which we wrote about in April, including Xun He, who shares details about the project with players. In one of the latest entries, the Internet user provided information about the progress of work (via X).

The group spends the most time and effort on designing new rooms and special furniture related to the characters, but the modders also found time to prepare additional characters (Roland and his shadow) and a new "store" (or rather a restaurant). This also includes, among others, seasonal outfits - for now, only Astarion and Shadowheart have a full selection.

Less pleasant aspects of working on the mod

However, shortly afterwards, Xun published another, less positive post. The modder also mentioned that, apart from receiving numerous words of support, the Baldur's Village team had to face not only complaints but also "attacks" from internet users.

Xun didn't go into details, but she also hinted that ideas for modification content and votes for the next romance options (currently you can only marry Astarion and Halsin) should be left under her posts on Patreon.

So we can guess that some Baldur's Gate 3 fans tried too aggressively to impose the direction of the project's development on the modders (read: adding Internet users' favorite characters as potential spouses). This is confirmed by the second entry published on the project's Patreon page.

That's why Xun threatened that any comment that makes "team members feel uncomfortable" would result in her blocking communication with that account. She emphasized that the team isn't "your private maids," but "three Asian modders who work full time and devote almost all their free time to working on this mod."

At the moment, Baldur’s Village is only accessible in a very early version 0.0.3, essentially in alpha stage. The first major part of the modifications is set to reach the players' hands later this year. Originally, there was talk of a debut on the first anniversary of the release of Baldur's Gate 3 on PC, but information from May makes us doubt the possibility of meeting this deadline.
