Read the reflections shared by Zaffra CEO, Jan Toschka, after engagements this week at Farnborough Airshow, MFUG conferences and many other engagements. ✈ "In essence, we discussed what it takes and what to expect from the various players to accelerate SAF growth. 🤝 Given the significant capital requirement for SAF production, it is very encouraging to see many new funding partnerships between Airlines, OEMs and corporate customers being launched. It also underpins that SAF becomes ‘core business’ of this industry, similarly demonstrated by growing number of Airlines announcing ticket price increases to fund the cost for SAF. Well done! 📈 Needless to say that such price increase is an unpopular message to give to customers. That said, recently we have seen significant ticket price volatility (not to mention price for luggage, for avoiding middle seats, etc.) and still aviation keeps growing and growing. Passing on the SAF costs to the passenger’s ticket price is not only unavoidable, it will also reduce market (offtake) risks and, therefore, strengthen bankability of SAF production which is an imperative for aviation’s decarbonization. Yesterday, Sasol Mining held the metsimaholo local municipality Agro-Hub Handover and Portable Skills Graduation Ceremony at Flavius Mareka TVET College in Sasolburg. The beneficiaries of the Agro-Hubs projects are Metsimaholo Orangeville Fisheries, as well as Mahokatsana Multi-purpose Cooperatives in Mooidraai - these two projects created 16 jobs and changed the lives of that many families - which was always the aim, to provide job opportunities and eradicate poverty. 30 Beneficiaries from Koppies in the Ngwathe Local Municipality graduated from Flavius Mareka TVET College with welding skills and brand-new welding toolboxes, curtesy of Sasol. The support and attendance of the Fezile Dabi District Municipality Mayor, Cllr Dennis Khasudi at the event and of the projects was greatly appreciated. Sasol hosts delegation from Japan at Secunda site A high-level Japanese delegation from Samitomo Corporation is in Secunda today for a site visit. The purpose for the visit is to get an understanding of Sasol’s processes in product development. The delegation is on site to learn more about our operations and to understand the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology.
