In June 2014, Capitec, South Africa’s leading digital bank, launched its banking app with a clear vision – to provide clients with a digital experience for their basic banking needs. At that time, the app offered limited functionality. Fast forward to today, Capitec is celebrating ten years of developing the app from its humble beginnings as a simple banking tool to becoming a digital wallet. We're excited to celebrate a decade of simplified banking for all with our latest TV commercial. Remember when our app first launched we just had four product suites: Transact, Save, Credit, and Insure? Fast forward 10 years later, and we've transformed the app with a full payment ecosystem packed with value-added services, improved security, biometrics, Live Better rewards, Life Cover, Capitec Connect, on-the-go notifications, and so much more!   Our new commercial is all about showing the world how our app makes life easier and more convenient. Our clients can now do it all on our app and we're proud to represent the diversity of our clients, highlighting the apps features, new products, and why Capitec is the bank for everyone in Mzansi. With this campaign, we’re aiming to lift Capitec brand perceptions and showcase how our app has evolved.     Keep an eye on our social media platforms to join in the celebration. We'd love to hear your favourite app features or stories about how it’s made your everyday life better. Let's honor the app and the bank that makes life simpler, just like that! 

Today we experienced disruptions across all banking channels due to a global downtime incident involving key technology service provider, CrowdStrike. This not only impacted Capitec, but also other major international companies like airlines, banks and telcos.

   It is important to note that our clients’ bank accounts were not affected in any way. Our teams acted quickly and restored our banking channels within a few hours. Service remains our top priority, and we thank our team for their commitment to our clients.
