We have been going to Greens since the 1980 and today's visit on Father's Day June 16 made me feel that I was not getting a good value for my money. It appears that the owners are driven quite a bit by greed than a true delivery of quality and quantity commensurate with price.
One of the items we ordered was Thai Curry. Priced at $26 without tofu and an extra $5 for the tofu which we requested without realizing that the curry comes without tofu. At a price of $31 for the curry with tofu, it does not come with rice and that was $5 for the rice plate. So, a total of $36 for Thai curry with tofu and rice! To me, this is a good example of nickeling and diming customers to come up with a $36 entre. This is pure greed by owners and management and nothing to do with inflation or cost of food going up.
The other item we ordered was Fettuccini pasta for $29 for the plate and the portion was not what you would get for a typical order of past at this price.
The last comment is about a mushroom tempura. The tempura was too oily and too crispy and having had lot of tempuras in Japan, it did not live up to my expectation of a good tempura. Again, tempura being served without rice!
I get the feeling that Green's success over the years appears to have gone to their head in increasing prices to a level that I would seriously consider not going there anymore.

Staple SF restaurant that has been around for decades. Vegetarian/vegan oriented. Plenty of paid parking in the Fort Mason lot as well as free spots just outside by the harbor.
Great views of the water make it a nice place to take guests.
Menu changes, but typically dishes are meant to be shared with the larger items on the bottom right of the page.
Black bean chili: Nice flavors, but became a bit one note.
Burrata and berries: Exactly what you expect it to taste like.
House bread/Corn bread: both were fine, but I would skip unless you absolutely need bread.
Morel mushroom sticky rice: Nice tasty dish, but the chives felt like an after thought.
Brentwood corn pizza: My favorite dish of the night. Corn flavors really shined and had a good balance between sweet and savory.
Probably the biggest weakness was the service. Our waiter rarely came by to check on us.
Overall, flavors were nice and I didn't miss having any meat, but it is definitely on the pricier side.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 9, 2024
I chose greens as a welcome to San Francisco dinner for my boyfriend's parents who were visiting from out of town. When I stepped into greens, I felt like I was transported back to a classic American restaurant in the 90s. The wall ceiling windows were covered with shade, but lucky diners were able to get a peek of the bridge.
In terms of food, I thought everything was really delicious and really fresh but pricey... some of my stand-up favorites were the burrata cheese and berries, the fava bean and toast, and the corn pizza. I was super excited for the fried enoki mushrooms however, the enoki was super greasy. I loved the toppings on the corn pizza, but I felt like the crust and dough itself was a little bit dense.
Finally, for service, I definitely did not feel like my waiter was welcoming... He did not tell us his name and when we asked for recommendations, he just did not seem excited at all to share the good food at greens. Was definitely hoping for a more warm experience, especially since we were all first timers.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 2 - Jul 2, 2024
I visited this restaurant on a walk through the Marina District. I had been told that Fort Worth had been turned into restaurants and shops and I love to visit repurposed spaces. The Greens is a fully vegetarian restaurant that uses only ingredients from California, which should give you a hint at how fabulously fresh and flavorful the cuisine is! My server, Leo, pointed me to the popular items in the menu with the Spring rolls being one of the meals that has received recognition. The Menu changes completely every three months, and has incremental changes day by day due to the nature of the ingredients, so hopefully what I ordered is available when you visit - but I have full confidence that you cannot go wrong here.
I decided on the Zaalouk, a middle eastern eggplant dish that was technically an appetizer, but was exactly what I wanted at the time. This came served with pita and what was pleasantly surprising to me was that u had the PERFECT amount of pita to Zaalouk ... when has that ever happened?! It just goes to show how much care and thought goes into each dish here. The Zaalouk itself was phenomenal. The eggplant was accompanied by feta, cilantro, red onion, and spices such as cumin and paprika (my fantastic server went and found out what the spices were when I asked... truly exceptional service) that warmed me from the inside out. The bite of feta along with the hearty texture and flavors within the dish actually danced in my mouth. The pita was perfect, very soft inside but a firm enough 'crust' to dip it or to stack the Zaalouk on without it getting too soggy quickly, making it the perfect pairing.
I initially wasn't going to get dessert, but when I saw the menu I immediately knew I'd be foolish not to. Two specific things caught my eye: the Pistachio Rhubard Cake and the Pavlova. I was able to get both, being blessed with the kindness of the staff that day. I started with the pistachio cake, and this is now one of my all time favorite desserts! Of course, the plating was excellent, but when I cut into the cake and the juicy 'volcanic' center trickling out... I was obsessed. I'm not actually a big cake fan, but THIS was perfection. The entire cake was moist already, but with the center and the accompanied purée it was soft and fluffy yet dense with the fruity flavors. Throughout was pieces of pistachio and rhubarb, I don't know if they were candied or simple just the perfect size and texture, but it brought the dish up even one more level. Soft, juicy cake, a sweet light frosting, and the bites of nuts and fruit made this dessert unforgettable.
Finishing off, I had the pavlova! I've only had meringue a few times, but this is doubtless my favorite. It was perfectly crisp on the outside with the inside being so light the whole thing practically melted in my mouth. The lemon cream in the center was generous, and a wonderful level of sweet without losing the necessary tartness to balance out the dish with the meringue and berries. The BERRIES. The entire meal was incredibly fresh, but I could truly tell that these were local. How can you be sure that not a single berry is going to be tart or underripe, I'm not sure, but somehow I was blessed with the sweetest, plumpest, berries that were at their peak performance.
Overall, this will go down as one of my favorite meals and I'd highly recommend anyone to check out this spot, vegetarian or not! I had an incredibly kind and resourceful server, fantastic food, and views of the bay the entire time that allowed me to watch the fog shifting over the ocean and countless sailboats going by. I'd return in a heartbeat, and I hope to the next time I visit San Francisco to see what else these genius chefs have cooked up.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 13500619May 10, 20241 check-in
The good: that creamy polenta dish was outstanding! For me, polenta is much more firm and solid than this was (think creamy grits) the flavors were fantastic, eggs perfectly poached and that mint sauce is to kill for. And it came out so fast, I was caught off guard.
The bad: the scones which were an appetizer, took ages to be served, honestly, if it wasn't raining out, and I wasn't cozy by the window, we might have left.
The mediocre: coffee, watery, bland. The service, despite ordering two coffees (11am) and two orders of scones (as apps) the server just seemed disinterested in us. As a server myself, I know the signs. The scones are just okay. SF is full of amazing bakeries that I wasn't impressed with these.
Overall, I'd go make for the entrees but only once.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - May 3, 2024
We ate at Fort Mason's Greens Restaurant for the first time and it did not disappoint...we ordered an array of dishes and were sat outside on the patio. It was still a bit chilly but they moved us under a heat lamp which made a world of difference
We want to try to get a table inside next time as it looked stunning and had a great view of the bay
My favorite thing was the cheddar biscuits... highly recommend
Our only critique was even with a reservation, we had to wait quite a bit to get sat and the check in process was a bit chaotic
Other than that... highly recommend this place for brunch and we'd like to go back for dinner to try more of their healthy yet hearty dishesHelpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 30, 20241 check-in
Inside Fort Mason. Lots of indoor and some outdoor seating. Great views of the bay and harbor. Lots of vegatarian choices but limited vegan (unless you want to pay for something and get fewer ingredients, like no cheese). The fava-cado toast was good, veggie spring rolls were good and the silken tofu with fava beans was good once I smashed it to soak up the sauce.
The dessert menu looked good too. Our waitor was great.
If they had better entree choices for vegan, I would have given 5 stars.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 6252222Mar 30, 2024
I had been wanting to try this place for so long, and finally made a reservation when family was visiting for a Friday at 5:15pm. The restaurant opened at 5, so there were only two other parties there when we arrived. We got a prime table by the window with a great view of the bridge. The interior is really beautiful with thoughtful pieces of art on the wall and wooden sculptures in the front, with some even used as tables.
Service was very attentive and friendly. Most of the food was spot on in flavor, texture, and aesthetics. The only things we didn't care for as much were the Coconut & Tart Cherry non-alcoholic drink and the chew on the pappardelle. Overall, it was a very lovely dining experience. It's a great place to bring visitors to. I'll definitely be coming again, with and without visitors!Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 15, 2024
The indoor dining experience at Greens offers a room bathed in warm sunlight, thanks to expansive west-facing windows overlooking the water. It's the perfect backdrop for a delightful vegetarian feast.
They have a vibrant vegetarian menu, offering a wide array of flavors. I don't typically eat at vegetarian restaurants and I was still impressed. Dozens of distinct flavor profiles make it easy to find something that piques your interest, no matter your taste preferences.
Every dish bursts with flavor, a testament to the use of seasonal produce and culinary expertise. The menu is designed for sharing, offering a delightful selection of plates in addition to traditional entrees. This is perfect for a group outing.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
