There are currently issues linking Xbox accounts with GeForce Now.

It’s a “global outage,” according to an Nvidia status message. “We are working on a fix to bring back the service as soon as possible.”

Nvidia’s other GeForce Now services appear to be operational, so perhaps this issue is tied to everything else going on.

Hey, parents, Spotify has some tips on navigating your kids’ digital listening world.

The streaming music service has launched a new Parental Guide detailing its tools for managing your kids’ listening habits as well as its efforts to keep the platform safe.

Spotify’s actual parental controls are limited to filtering out explicit content and controlling the playback of certain artists. For a fully curated experience, you’ll need to spring for Spotify Kids, which is part of the Premium Family package.

Finally, my niche interests collide.

House music and technology are my two favorite things, and finally, I’ve found a way to write about them both.

Thanks to the CrowdStrike fail that caused chaos in systems across the globe, a DJ named Chris Lake is facing challenges with his concert in New York tonight. One of the DJs, Andruss, can’t make it, so they’ve had to adjust the lineup to fill his spot.

One of the greatest debates of our time — is Hello Kitty a cat? — continues to rage on, with Sanrio once again affirming the negative. But we’ve been here before.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s final trailer adds Laura to the mix.

Dafne Keen’s performance as Laura in Logan was arguably the best thing about the film, and the character popping up in Deadpool & Wolverine’s latest trailer is probably a sign she’ll be sticking around in the MCU for a while.

An action game with foresight.

Forestrike comes from the same studio behind the excellent indie title Olija, and it allows players to plan out how they approach battle before ever throwing a punch. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait some time to play it — the game launches in 2025.

I’m born to play as Spiritborn.

Blizzard announced a bunch of details about Diablo IV’s upcoming Spiritborn class, and I think it looks awesome. You can call upon spirit animals to help destroy baddies!

The new class comes to the game with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, which launches on October 8th. I’ve linked a short trailer below, but you can also watch a replay of Blizzard’s full reveal livestream.

Is WBD planning a split with Max?

As CEO David Zaslav looks for ways to improve WBD’s financial situation, sources tell the Financial Times that he’s considering separating WBD’s streaming and movie business from its ailing legacy TV networks — a move that would sequester the new company from a mountain of debt.

A Netflix bundle with Max or Disney Plus probably won’t happen.

In Netflix’s earnings report today, the streamer says bundling with other services like Disney Plus and Max “limits the benefit” to Netflix:

We haven’t bundled Netflix solely with other streamers like Disney+ or Max because Netflix already operates as a go-to destination for entertainment... This has driven industry leading penetration, engagement and retention for us, which limits the benefit to Netflix of bundling directly with other streamers.

When asked about bundling with competitors on Decoder in June, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said “never say never.”

Facehuggers have never looked so terrifying.

The final trailer for Alien: Romulus is here, and it viscerally shows just how harrowing facehuggers really are as a concept. The new trailer urges you to check it out in IMAX by teasing some grisly close-ups that will be sure to really pop on a 50-foot high screen.

The Fede Alvarez-directed film opens August 16th.

iFixit introduces cheaper toolkits for cracking open consoles.

Why pay for tools you don’t need when repairing or modding a console? iFixit has released four new kits for the Switch, Xbox, Steam Deck, and PlayStation featuring only device-specific tools.

The $12.95 kits include a screwdriver with a small selection of bits, tweezers, a brush, picks, a spudger for prying open housings, and an anti-static wrist strap so you don’t accidentally fry your hardware.

Apple TV Plus sounds interested in licensing more movies from other studios.

While Apple TV Plus has previously dabbled in the movie licensing game to supplement its lineup of original projects, Bloomberg reports that talks are underway with other studios that could lead to the streamer looking a little differ (and perhaps more like Netflix) in the near future.

Welcome to (Alien) Earth.

We still don’t know when FX’s upcoming Alien TV series is dropping, but at least we know its name: Alien: Earth. It takes place before the original 1979 film, and, clearly, is set on our home planet. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a Xenomorph fix, Romulus hits theaters next month.

Comcast will have high bitrate, low latency 4K feeds of the Olympics.

NBCUniversal owner Comcast announced tweaks it’s adding for the Paris Olympics on X1, like a customizable home screen and an “enhanced” 4K feed for the USA Network’s 24/7 broadcast sent over cable to X1 boxes.

...enhanced 4K brings together 4K video delivered over Comcast’s network at its highest bitrate, Dolby Vision® for life-like picture quality, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, and ultra-low latency

A support page explains, “Enhanced 4K will be available on XG1v4 (low latency feed) and Hi-Fi on Xi6 (30 Mbps and low latency).”

Disclosure: Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, is also an investor in Vox Media, The Verge’s parent company.

The Emmys might basically be a streaming awards show this year.

There will be plenty of traditional television series like Shōgun and The Bear in the running at the 76th Emmys in September. But given how many Netflix, HBO, Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, and Amazon projects were just nominated for awards, this year’s competition seems like it could easily go to the streamers.

Bend it like Bob Iger.

The Disney CEO, along with Willow Bay, has purchased a controlling stake in NWSL club Angel City FC at a value of $250 million, which the team says makes it “the most valuable women’s sports team in the world.” (The club is no stranger to celebrity owners, with founders like Alexis Ohanian and Natalie Portman.) Now we sit and wait for the inevitable docuseries on Disney Plus.
