Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition confirmed for 2024

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition leaked earlier on the Xbox Store, and some Ubisoft Plus subscribers found that they could access the game before it had been announced. Ubisoft has now confirmed to Eurogamer, that Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is indeed in the works and is due to come out in 2024.

In a statement to Eurogamer, Ubisoft said, “Due to a technical error, an early development version of Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition was recently released to some Ubisoft+ subscribers. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyond Good & Evil, we’re excited to share that the official launch is set for early 2024, and we look forward to sharing more with you in the new year.”

The Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition will feature 4K visuals and 60fps, with improved controls, graphics, and audio. It will also feature autosave and a cross save feature too. In addition, there will be a new treasure hunt looking at Jade’s past, which will be available in Hillys. A speedrun mode and achievements will also be added.

While it is nice to see a classic get a new lease of life, many will be wondering what the state of Beyond Good & Evil 2 is. It was formally announced back in 2017, but in 2020 Michel Ancel announced his retirement from the industry. This raised questions as he was a key part of the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2. Since then, there has been no further updates for the prequel to Beyond Good & Evil, with speculation mounting that it has been put on hold or cancelled. However, the release of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition may prompt new information about the project that is currently missing in action.
